Water kept getting into Janice E.’s crawl space of her Philo, IL home. It leaked into the crawlspace through the cement block foundation walls and made her crawl space completely unusable so she called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended encapsulating her crawl space.

CleanSpace was installed as part of the encapsulation system. It is a durable, thick plastic moisture barrier that is installed over the foundation walls and gravel floors of the crawl space. It prevents moisture from entering the crawlspace, instead directing it down to the perimeter drainage system. It contains an additive called UltraFresh that makes it mold resistant. It’s bright white so, besides giving the crawl space a much cleaner appearance, it maximizes available light.

Janice E. had a very wet crawl space in her Philo, IL home. Water leaked in through the foundation walls and gravel floors and made the crawl space very humid. The high humidity had begun to rot the wood floor joists above. Her store-bought dehumidifier did little to nothing to keep the relative humidity low and it was a chore to empty the collection tray every time it was full so she called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended a crawl space encapsulation system.

Woods replaced the store-bought dehumidifier with the SaniDry dehumidifier as part of the encapsulation system. The SaniDry can remove up to 109 pints of water from the crawl space air per day while using the same amount of energy as the store-bought unit. It’s self-draining so no more hassle emptying a full collection tray. It keeps relative humidity low in the crawl space to prevent rot and conditions that foster mold growth.

As part of the solution, Foreman James L. installed SaniDry. SaniDry is an energy efficient dehumidifier. SaniDry was installed in combination with the CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system. SaniDry keeps the humidity levels low without hiking energy costs.

With this system, Janice no longer has to worry about allergens like mold and dust mites lurking in her crawl space and home.

Fast and Effective Concrete Lifting and Leveling

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it.

How PolyLevel works:

  1. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab.
  2. Then the PolyLevel polymer is injected into the holes and expands to provide an accurate lift.
  3. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on.

This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive, and arguably more effective than mud jacking, which is the standard that PolyLevel replaces. We even offer SealantPro concrete sealing, which extends slabs' lifespans by 3 to 5 times overall in just one quick application. This concrete sealing system is resistant to moisture, oil, UV rays, abrasions, and more.

To remove tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel concrete leveling. After, our concrete sealing system will preserve your slabs for a lifetime. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling or concrete sealing estimate, contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways

Keeping a Basement Dry in Philo, Illinois

Homeowners try all sorts of methods to keep their basement dry. When Philo, Illinois had heavy rains, the water leaked worst at the water line going through the basement wall in this home.  The device in photo one caught the water squirting in during a heavy rain and drained to across the basement floor to the floor drain.  Water also leaked up at the wall and basement floor seam on 3 out of 4 basement walls.  This was also a walk out basement and even after the rain stopped the water would continue to leak in for days. Our perimeter waterproofing sytems and wall drain for the water line controlled all of the leaks and is keeping this basment dry all the time now.

Bowing Philo, IL Walls Supported With GeoLock

Philo, Illinois homeowner Jane was worried about several of her basement walls. Over the years, tiny hairline cracks had turned into huge fractures, causing her to be concerned about a possible wall collapse. She was eager to have the problem taken care of as quickly as possible, so she called Woods Basement Systems.

In order to reinforce the damaged walls, foreman Jeremy and his team installed several GeoLock wall supports. These work by connecting heavy anchors buried deep in the firm soil to steel plates on the surface of the interior walls, effectively pulling them outward over time. Jane can rest easy now that her walls are protected from damage.

Wet Philo, IL Basement Made Dry With WaterGuard

Nancy A. of Philo, Illinois called Woods Basement Systems to help fix the water issues in her basement. There were several large cracks in the walls, and leaks would pour down onto the floor during heavy rains. This constant moisture required constant cleanup, and Nancy was tired of dealing with it.

In order to waterproof Nancy's basement, foreman Kevin and his team installed a WaterGuard drainage system. These under-floor drains are placed at the base of the leaking walls to collect any and all leaks and prevent them from making it into the space. Nancy couldn't be happier with the results!

Bowing Wall in Philo, IL Corrected with Wall Anchors

JC M. of Philo, Illinois discovered that a couple of his home's basement walls were bowing. He did not want to ignore the problem and allow the damage to get worse, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

Design specialist Gregory B. assessed the situation and came up with the perfect solution. Soon after, foreman Jeremy R. headed to the home to install multiple wall anchors. Wall anchors extend from the inside walls of the basement to the outside hard packed soil. The wall anchors stabilize the wall and prevent any further movement.

CleanSpace and SaniDry Renew Philo, Illinois Crawl Space

Janice E. of Philo, Illinois was distraught by her wet, moldy crawl space. The musty environment was perfect for mold and dust mites to thrive. To keep these allergens out of her home, system design specialist Greg B. designed a solution.

Foreman James L. and his team installed the CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system. CleanSpace is an inorganic vapor barrier. It prevents water from entering the crawl space, and it does not support mold growth. In addition to CleanSpace, James installed SaniDry. SaniDry is an energy efficient dehumidifier. Keeping the humidity low will keep mold and dust mites away.

With these systems, Janice's crawl space will stay dry and free of mold. She is pleased that she no longer has to be concerned with allergens in her home.

Crawl Space Encapsulated in Philo, IL

Janice E. of Philo, IL had a sump pump installed by another company in her crawl space. She thought that was the end of her water problem but water kept getting into the crawl space during heavy downpours through her foundation walls and made the space unusable. The store-bought dehumidifier she had in her crawl space did little to nothing to keep relative humidity low which had started to cause the floor joists to rot so she called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Greg B. inspected Janice’s crawl space and found the best solution for the water problem would be an encapsulation system.

Woods installed CleanSpace over the foundation walls and gravel floors of the crawl space. CleanSpace is a thick, durable, mold resistant moisture barrier that prevents water from entering the crawl space, instead directing it to the drainage system below.

Drainage matting was installed under the CleanSpace on the gravel floors of the crawl space. Drainage matting has a dimpled design that provides channels for standing water to disperse to the drainage system.

Woods installed the SmartPipe drainage system along the perimeter of the crawl space. SmartPipe has multiple rows of channel holes covered in filter fabric to keep it free from debris as it collects water from the foundation walls and gravel floors of the crawl space and drains it to the sump pump.

Woods replaced the old, non-functioning sump pump with the SmartSump. The SmartSump was designed to form an airtight seal with the CleanSpace. It contains a powerful cast-iron pump that takes the intruding water and expels it out and away from the crawlspace through the discharge line.

On the exterior of the home, an IceGuard was installed on the discharge line. The IceGuard will prevent water from backing up into the home if the discharge line becomes frozen or clogged by snow during winter months. The perforations in the IceGuard gives water an escape route into the yard.

The store-bought dehumidifier was replaced with two SaniDry dehumidifiers. The SaniDrys are as energy efficient as the store-bought unit but are more powerful. Each can remove up to 109 pints of water from crawlspace air per day. They keep the relative humidity low to prevent rot, mold growth and musty smells.

Janice E. is relieved that she no longer has a water problem in her crawl space and she can now use it for storage.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Philo

Jeff of Philo, IL had a very wet, humid and musty crawl space.  After scanning the internet, he found Woods Basement Systems and set up an appointment for a free estimate.

Representative, Brian Cox, thoroughly assessed his crawl space and suggested a complete encapsulation, a powerful dehumidifier, and a new sump pump.  Jeff appealed to Wood’s innovative products and methods and scheduled the job.

In two days, foreman Robert Korte and his crew installed the SmartSump sump pump, the SaniDry dehumidifier, and the CleanSpace liner around the entire crawl space.  Jeff’s crawl space is now fully encapsulated & dry and will stay that way for many years to come.
