System design specialist Nathan H. designed a solution to waterproof Tristan's basement. TrenchDrain was installed to accept water that flows into the home at an entryway. The TrenchDrain grated drainage system then guides water to the WaterGuard. WaterGuard is a perimeter drainage system that guides water to the TwinPack sump pump system.

Woods installed an UltraSump that would work in most conditions to pump out water if it got into the crawlspace. This water is pumped out of the crawlspace through a discharge line that empties in the yard.

Woods also installed a SaniDry to help control the moisture in the crawlspace. The SaniDry will filter moisture out of the air, it is a dehumidifier for your crawlspace. This will control the humidity and moisture of the crawlspace.

Marjorie C. of Carbondale, IL had walls that were bowing in which had causes numerous stair step cracks along the stone bricks of her foundation walls. She was worried that if she left them any longer, the walls would fail so she called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Brandon B inspected her walls and gave Marjorie a perfectly tailored solution to her problems.

Along one wall of the basement, Geo Lock Wall Anchors were installed. Geo Lock Wall Anchors permanently stabilize walls by driving a galvanized anchor rod through the wall and connecting it to an earth anchor that’s buried in the yard. The anchor rod is attached on the inside of the wall to a steel wall plate and then tightened to ensure the wall is held in place and not bow or tilt and further. Geo Lock Wall Anchors can also straighten foundation walls in most cases.

PowerBraces were installed on the other bowing wall in Marjorie’s basement. PowerBraces are used in place of GeoLock Wall Anchors when the yard outside of the wall is inaccessible. PowerBraces reinforce and stabilize bowing walls using corrosion resistant steel beams that are custom fit to the basement walls and attached using steel brackets to the floor joists and concrete floor to hold the wall in place and prevent any further bowing. PowerBraces can also be tightened during dry periods for possible wall improvement.

Marjorie now has the peace of mind that her walls are permanently stabilized and reinforced and she doesn’t have to worry about the bowing any more.

Jacqueline B. of Murphysboro, IL had water getting into her finished basement. It had wreaked havoc on the finished walls and carpeted floors. She’d also tested for radon in her home and had very high levels so she called Woods Basement System. Woods installed WaterGuard under the concrete floors along the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard is a drainage system that is situated on the concrete footing of the home so it won’t become clogged with mud as it collects water from the foundation walls and floors and drains it to sump pump for removal.

The Twin Pack was installed to collect the water from the WaterGuard and pump it out and away from the basement through its discharge lines. The Twin Pack contains two powerful, cast-iron sump pumps to ensure the basement stays dry in all weather conditions. On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. IceGuards have slotted openings to allow water to escape into the yard if the discharge lines become frozen or clogged.

Woods installed a radon mitigation system. They drilled a hole into the slab foundation to create a path of least resistance for radon gas. The hole is connected to a pvc pip that is directed upward to a fan in the attic which actively vents the gas outside and safely away from the home.

Gary F. of Chesterfield, MO had a retaining wall that had seen better days. It was bowing inward and cracking under all the pressure from soil on the other side of it. It supported Gary’s deck so he was worried that if it failed, he’d end up having to replace both the wall and the deck so he called Woods Basement Systems for a free assessment. Design Specialist John S. inspected the wall and found Geo-Lock Wall Anchors would be the best solution.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchors were installed along the bowing, cracked wall. They counteract soil pressure by embedded earth anchors in stable soil conditions in the yard and connecting them to steel wall plates on the inside of the wall with galvanized steel anchor rods. The wall is permanently stabilized in place and can be straightened over time by tightening the wall anchors during dry periods. In Gary’s case, the retaining wall was straightened immediately be excavating the earth on the outside of the wall then tightening the anchors to straighten the wall and replacing the soil and sod over the excavation site.

Gary is relieved that his retaining wall is stable and secure and his porch is safe. 

The foundation walls of Henry L.’s Carbondale, IL home were tilting and bowing. There were long horizontal cracks that spanned across the walls in the areas where the bowing was at it’s worst. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors counteract that pressure by connecting wall plates on the inside of the foundation walls to earth anchors embedded in more stable soil in the yard with galvanized steel anchor rods. They permanently stabilize the walls in place and can even straighten walls over time by tightening the anchors during dry periods.

This is done by using poles to extend past the active zone in the yard. Smart jacks are made of steel and are placed in the crawl space to stablilze and lift the floors above. The Sanidry Sedona dehumidifier filters the air of any water vapor, mold spores, dust, or allergens. Finally, the SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation is attached to the rim joists and reflects heat back into the crawl space to keep it insulated.

Brett S. no longer has to worry about crawl space problems. His floors are now level and stable, and his crawl space is dry and safe from rotting and mold growth.

Donald D. of Murphysboro, Illinois noticed that his concrete patio was uneven and starting to sink. He did not want this to become a tripping hazard, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

A sinking floor is not good for the foundation of a home, however the problem can be fixed. That’s why Ian G called Woods Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Jacob K was able to come up with a solution to the problem.

Foreman Joshua B installed a SmartJack under the portion of sinking foundation. The SmartJack will rest on a layer of stable soil and keep the foundation from sinking any more than it already has.

Bonnie M. of Carbondale, IL was having problems with the concrete around her home sinking and settling unevenly. Aware of the potential issues, they decided to call Woods Basement Systems for a free estimate.

Systems Design Specialist Peter N. evaluated the situation and informed Bonnie that this can happen naturally over time as the result of the weight of the concrete in addition to the weight of what the concrete is responsible for holding up. Peter also determined that the appropriate solution would be to have foreman Juan H. install PolyLevel. PolyLevel is a foam injection that is simply installed in 4-steps and is designed to lift the concrete back to its original state.

The SmartPipe drainage system accepts water from both the soil and the surface of the crawl space. It then drains it to the sump pump. The SmartSump sump pump is made specifically for crawl spaces. It collects and removes water from the crawl space through an exterior discharge line. Finally, the CleanSpace Encapsulation System is a durable liner that is placed on the crawl space floor and up the walls. It acts as a vapor barrier and completely seals the crawl space from the earth.

It collects and drains any water rising from the ground before it reaches the surface of the basement. Finally, the TripleSafe sump pump has a primary, secondary, and battery powered pump that removes water from the home even when the power goes out.

Edward G was concerned when he noticed that the floors throughout his house were beginning to sink, so he decided to call Woods Basement Systems.  System Design Specialist Brandon B was able to come up with a solution to the problem.

Foreman Jose L installed a Push Pier in Edward’s basement.  The Push Pier will be driven down into a stable level of soil, and will then support the portion of the floor that was sinking.  Over time the Push Pier will be able to raise it up to its original height.

A flooded basement is not a good thing to see when you walk downstairs. That’s why Tyler H called Woods Basement Systems. One of our System Design Specialists recommended several products that would prevent future flooding.

The first product installed was a TripleSafe sump pump. Unlike ordinary pumps, the TripleSafe has three pumps inside it. The first is a normal pump to remove water. Randy C. of Campbell Hill, Illinois noticed that his home's basement was collecting water after heavy rain showers. He did not want to have to clean up a mess everything it stormed, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

Design specialist Michael T. assessed the situation and decided that the best solution was to install a TripleSafe sump pump. Foreman Juan H. then traveled to the home to get the job started. David, a Carbondale, Illinois homeowner, saw that the front entry way of his home, as well as the concrete driveway was unlevel. This lowered curb appeal and presented a safety hazard.
