Woods Basement Systems, Inc. Case Studies: EverLast Baement Windows in Maryville, IL
Challenge
Ryan's windows in his basement were ugly and inefficient. They let heat escape by conduction. Poorly constructed window sashes let in cold air in the winter and hot, humid air in the summer which caused condensation on the cold surfaces in the basement. Ryan was looking to reduce his heating and cooling bills and wanted to stop the condensation. His windows could cause mold to form and odors to arise. Ryan wanted to get new, nice looking windows that would stop these potential issues.
Solution
Ryan called Woods Basement Systems to see if he could get some new windows. The System Design Specialist told him about EverLast Windows. They are clean-looking energy efficient solution windows that have two panes of low-e glass, which reduce heat loss. A special metallic coating on the inside of the glass functions as a mirror, allowing visible light in, but reflecting heat. Then window also doesn't open, so it can be sealed up tight to stop air leakage and heat loss by convection. By stopping this, condensation will stop and potential mold growth or odors will not appear. In the end, this new window is better for the environment and better for Ryan's pocket.
