The room addition was built attached to a basement and had only one access cut through the basement wall.  It was built without vents but nothing else was done within the closed space.  We installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier and sealed up the inside of the crawl space.  The air inside the space is now dry and the vapor barrier on the ground will stop the damp air from the ground from 'leaking' up into the home. There will be less humidity and the environment won't be a haven for spiders, critters, and mold as it was previously.

Fast and Effective Concrete Lifting and Leveling

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it.

How PolyLevel works:

  1. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab.
  2. Then the PolyLevel polymer is injected into the holes and expands to provide an accurate lift.
  3. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on.

This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive, and arguably more effective than mud jacking, which is the standard that PolyLevel replaces. We even offer SealantPro concrete sealing, which extends slabs' lifespans by 3 to 5 times overall in just one quick application. This concrete sealing system is resistant to moisture, oil, UV rays, abrasions, and more.

To remove tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel concrete leveling. After, our concrete sealing system will preserve your slabs for a lifetime. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling or concrete sealing estimate, contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways

Bowing Walls and Large Cracks

Foundation walls like this one in Effingham, IL. can come under a lot of pressure from the soil around the home as it naturally expands with the weather. This pressure can cause damage to the foundation walls such as cracking and bowing.

As the soil expands and presses against the foundation wall, the wall weakens and cracks then begins to bow inward. If not fixed in time, the wall might even collapse! Fortunately, there is a way to fix this problem permanently.

The solution is to install wall anchors. Wall anchors work by connecting an anchor plate buried outside in the compressed soil with an interior plate against the wall. This connection is tightened, which pulls the interior plate - and by extension, the wall - back toward the anchor plate. This pulling force counters the pushing force of the expanding soil and permanently supports the wall. The system can even straighten the wall back to its original position, allowing the homeowner to properly repair the cracks.

Once wall anchors are installed, these cracked and bowing walls will be permanently supported and the homeowners won't have to worry about collapsing foundation walls.

Wet Basement Gets Waterproofed in Effingham, IL

Kay B. of Effingham, IL had a very wet basement. Water flooded her basement each time it rained through the joints between the ledge wall and the foundation walls and floors throughout the basement. It had also found its way through cracks in the floors. Kay stored numerous belongings in her basement and they were getting damaged each time it flooded so she called Woods Basement Systems. Over the foundation walls and ledge wall, Woods installed CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a durable plastic moisture barrier. It give the basement a brighter, cleaner appearance and prevents moisture from entering the basement, directing it down to the drainage system. Drainage matting was installed under the CleanSpace on top of the ledge wall to provide channels for water to go over the ledge wall and down to the drainage system.

WaterGuard was installed under the cement floors along the perimeter the basement as well as through areas where water was coming up through the floors. WaterGuard is a drainage system that is situated away from mud that might clog it as it collects water from the foundation walls and floors and guides it to the sump pump.

The TripleSafe was installed to remove the water out and away from the basement through its discharge lines. The TripleSafe contains three pumps including a battery back up pump. It protects the basement from flood waters even when weather is severe or there’s a power outage.

On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. The slotted openings of the IceGuards give the water an alternative escape route if the lines become frozen or clogged so it won’t come back into the basement.

Kay B. can now safely store her belongings in the basement and doesn’t have to worry about water damage.

Foundation Wall Anchor Installation in Effingham, IL

This homeowner in Effingham, IL had cracks developing in their basement walls, and not only minor cracks, but large cracks continually increasing in size from the bottom to the top of the walls. For the homeowner who uses the basement for recreational purposes, this would become a problem if not addressed soon. After the cracks form, it's only a matter of time before the walls begin to bow or cave in, which would be disastrous for the home's structure. We installed Geo-Lock Wall Anchors and Power Braces on the two walls with the large cracks. The Geo-Lock Wall Anchors are metal plates placed on the wall with large metal rods reaching outside into the yard underground, fixated to anchors, which prevents the wall from bowing in and corrects any bowing that has already occurred. The Power Braces are added support to the wall to help stabilize it. These are similar solutions to a failing wall, but the Power Braces are installed on a wall that does not have the sufficient room on the outside to install the Wall Anchors. In this case, the home was too close to a neighbor's yard to install the Wall Anchors. Now this homeowner does not need to worry about their basement walls bowing in.
