Energy Saving Products Installed in Dorsey, IL

Nathan L. of Dorsey, IL had high energy bills and an uncomfortable living area. He tried everything to lower his bill and keep his home at a comfortable temperature, he was just about ready to give up. Then, someone told him about Woods Basement Systems.

Nathan had Woods evaluate his home to see if there was any way they could help him. Woods told Nathan that his unfinished crawlspace was allowing unfiltered and humid air to flow into his home. Luckily, Woods had the perfect products to fix Nathan’s issues.

Nathan’s high energy bills rooted from excessive moisture in his crawlspace. The crawlspace was not properly sealed and allowed humid air to rise into his home. The air rising into the home was filled with moisture, making the home more humid. Humid air is harder to filter through an air conditioning unit, thus making the unit work harder to keep the home at the desired temperature.

Crawl Space Before and After Installation of CleanSpace Encapsulation System

Pictured above is before and after the installation of CleanSpace, which is a durable plastic lining that is installed around the edges of the crawlspace and is extended throughout the entire space. This revolutionary vapor barrier will help prevent outside water from seeping into the space and making it damp. If your crawlspace stays dry, there will be a reduced chance of mold and the air rising into the home will hold less moisture.

Nathan wanted to ensure all the water in the space was drained properly. Woods installed SmartPipe and a Drainage Matting under the CleanSpace. These products work together to drain the water out from under the space and keep water away from the house. The SmartPipe is installed at the perimeter of the space and drains standing water away into the sump pump and away from the house. The Drainage Matting is installed throughout the space and helps direct the water that may pool under the CleanSpace to the sump pump as well.

SmartSump and IceGuard Post-Installation

This picture shows the SmartSump pump used to evacuate water from the crawlspace. A sump pump is a system that will pump out any water pooling in the area of the pump. This water will be evacuated through the discharge line. The discharge line will lead the water into the yard a dump it far from the house. This discharge line is subject to become clogged or frozen.

Woods has an emergency system to drain this water in the event of frozen or clogged discharge lines called IceGuard. IceGuard has an opening that allows water to escape in order to prevent water from receding into the basement.

Example of Vent Covers and SaniDry for Crawl Space

This picture shows examples of the SaniDry dehumidifier and Vent Covers. The SaniDry system is a dehumidifier for a small space. The system will filter the moisture out of the air as well as reduce the relative humidity and, in turn, the amount of humid air that is moving into the home. The air conditioning system in the home will no longer have to work harder to control the air of the home.

The Vent Covers are used to provide additional sealing for the crawlspace. Vent Covers create an air tight seal against previously exposed vent covers. This will prevent moisture from coming in through the vents and further reduce the amount of moisture in the space.

Woods also installed SmartJacks to lift the sagging floors. The extensive moisture in the crawlspace created an unstable area where the house was supported. SmartJacks provide permanent support for the home. Nathan will no longer have to worry about the safety of her home or the uncomfortable sagging floors because the SmartJacks are guaranteed to fix these issues.

These products work efficiently to reduce Nathan’s energy bills. Nathan is now happy that he can spend his money for personal uses instead of on bills. He is thankful that Woods was able to provide valuable products to his home and give him and effective solution to his crawlspace need.
