How WaterGuard Protects Your Basement from Seasonal Flooding

How WaterGuard Works to Protect Your Basement

  1. Intercepts Water at the Source: A narrow trench is created along the inner perimeter of your basement. The WaterGuard channel, a uniquely shaped drainage pipe, is then placed in this trench. The system's design includes a built-in wall flange that rests against the foundation wall, directing any water leaking through cracks or the wall-floor joint down into the channel.

  2. Relieves Hydrostatic Pressure: During heavy rains or snowmelt, water builds up in the soil around your foundation, creating hydrostatic pressure. This pressure forces water through cracks and pores in the foundation. The WaterGuard system relieves this pressure by providing a direct path for the water to enter the drainage channel instead of a path onto your basement floor.

  3. Directs Water to a Sump Pump: Once water is collected in the WaterGuard channel, it is channeled to a sump pump system, such as the TripleSafe Sump Pump. The sump pump then automatically pumps the water out of your basement and away from your foundation.

  4. Minimizes Clogging: The system is installed on top of the footing, keeping it out of the soil. This prevents it from getting clogged with dirt, silt, or plant roots, ensuring it remains a reliable, long-term solution.

The entire system is discreetly covered by a new layer of concrete, leaving only a small, visible flange along the wall. This allows for an effective waterproofing solution without the need to excavate the exterior of your home.
