Effective Concrete Leveling & Concrete Sealing

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it.

How PolyLevel works:

  1. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab.
  2. Then the PolyLevel polymer is injected into the holes and expands to provide an accurate lift.
  3. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on.

This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive, and arguably more effective than mud jacking, which is the standard that PolyLevel replaces. We even offer SealantPro concrete sealing, which extends slabs' lifespans by 3 to 5 times overall in just one quick application. This concrete sealing system is resistant to moisture, oil, UV rays, abrasions, and more.

To remove tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel concrete leveling. After, our concrete sealing system will preserve your slabs for a lifetime. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling or concrete sealing estimate, contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways

Job Stories From Fayette County, IL
Waterproofing in St. Elmo, IL

t is important for any home's basement to stay dry, especially if the basement is used as a livable space. That is why many homeowners have decided to contact Woods Basement Systems about waterproofing their homes.

Jheri and Brandon G. of st. Elmo, IL saw the value of a clean basement and decided to contact Woods Basement Systems for a waterproofing. Our WaterGuard drainage system was installed below the perimeter of her basement floors where it is able to guide any water from leaky walls into our TripleSafe sump pump to ensure a dry and clean basement. Along with an exterior discharge line and our IceGuard which prevents the discharge line from freezing over, Erin's basement will be dry for many years to come.

WaterGuard Installed in Vandalia, IL

Randall Q. of Vandalia, IL contacted Woods Basement Systems with concerns about the standing water in his basement. The water was leaking in from outside and had no way to drain.

Woods installed WaterGuard to help drain unwanted water out of the basement. WaterGuard is installed in the cement of the flooring against the walls. This allows water to enter the piping and be drained to prevent damages to the home and personal belongings.

Waterproofing System installed in St. Elmo, IL

Cindi and Tom F. of St. Elmo, IL had water leaking into their basement every time it rained. Their basement was unlivable so they called Woods Basement Systems. Basement Design Specialist Thomas W. assessed their water problem and found the best solution.

Woods Basement Systems installed a waterproofing system. WaterGuard was installed on top of the concrete footing and against the basement walls. The WaterGuard is under the concrete floor of the basement so it stays out of sight while it collects any water seeping in from the walls and wall joints and guides the water to the sump pump.

A TripleSafe sump pump was installed as well. The TripleSafe consists of three pumps: a primary pump, a secondary pump and a battery back up pump. Each are situated at different levels within the liner to provide protection even in severe weather and power outages. The TripleSafe pumps the water safely out the discharge lines into the yard.

IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines on the exterior of the home. IceGuards prevents water that is being pumped out from coming back into the basement if the discharge lines have become clogged or frozen. It gives water an alternative escape route through its slotted openings.

Cindi and Tom F. are happy to know that, no matter the weather outside, their basement inside will remain dry and livable.

Driveway and Walkway Leveled in Brownstown, IL

The concrete driveway and walkway of Kurt K.’s Brownstone, IL home were uneven. Some of the concrete slabs in the driveway and walkway were sinking which caused them to pull away from the house and were no longer level with the other slabs, creating tripping hazards. Kurt didn’t want to deal with replacing his driveway and walkway so he called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended PolyLevel.

PolyLevel was injected under the concrete slabs of the walkway and driveway. It’s an expanding polymer foam that lifts and levels the concrete. It cures quickly so the concrete driveway and walkway can be used in about 15 minutes, meaning far less downtime than with traditional mudjacking. It’s also waterproof when it cures so it won’t be washed away.

Kurt is glad he can use his concrete walkway and driveway without worrying about tripping.

Crawlspaces Insulated and Encapsulated in St. Elmo, IL

Randy and Jennifer I. of St. Elmo, IL had two crawlspaces that were causing major issues in their home. Standing water would get into their crawlspaces which caused mold to grow on the walls and the beams above to rot. The floors above the larger crawlspace were sagging because of the weakened beams. Drafts and musty smells came into their home from their crawlspace, as well, so they called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Greg B. inspected the crawlspaces and recommended installing a crawlspace encapsulation system as well as SmartJacks.

SmartJacks were installed along the beams of the larger crawlspace. SmartJacks are adjustable steel columns that are held in place by concrete footings that will support and stabilize floors in place and can also lift floors back to their original position.

SilverGlo Insulation Panels were installed along the walls of the crawlspaces. SilverGlo is made of rigid polystyrene foam insulate the crawlspace and prevents air infiltration. It’s waterproof so it forms a moisture barrier over the walls and directs water to the perimeter drainage system.

CleanSpace was installed along the walls and floors of the crawlspaces. CleanSpace is a durable, thick plastic liner that forms a vapor barrier between the foundation walls and dirt floors which will reduce humidity in the crawlspace and prevent any moisture from getting in.

Along the floors of the crawlspaces, drainage matting was installed. It’s dimpled design provides channels for standing water to disperse to the perimeter drainage system.

SmartPipe was installed along the foundation walls of the basement. It’s a drainage system that has rows of holes covered in filter fabric so it won’t become clogged by mud or debris as it collects water from the walls and floors of the crawlspace and takes it to the sump pumps for removal.

In the larger crawlspace, the TripleSafe was installed to take the water from WaterGuard and pump it out and away from the crawlspace through its discharge lines. It contains three powerful pumps, including a battery back up pump, to ensure that in all weather conditions or power outages, the crawlspace will remain dry.

In the smaller crawlspace, the SmartSump was installed. The SmartSump is designed to fit seamlessly with the CleanSpace barrier and is equipped with a powerful, cast iron pump.

IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines on the exterior of the crawlspaces. IceGuards were designed to prevent water from re-entering the crawlspace if the lines become frozen or clogged by allowing it to escape through slotted openings.

The SaniDry Dehumidifier was installed in the larger crawlspace. It keeps the relative humidity low in the crawlspaces to prevent musty smells and rot.

Randy and Jennifer are glad they can finally use their crawlspace for storage without worries of water damage and that they’ll no longer have drafts or musty smells coming from their crawlspaces.

A Woods Basement Systems team, led by foreman Greg, began waterproofing Ken's basement by installing a WaterGuard system. These gutter-like drains are put in place underneath the floor at the base of the leaking walls to catch any and all water and prevent it from making it into the space. After this, a TwinPack sump pump was installed and connected to the WaterGuard system to remove all water from the home. Ken couldn't be happier with the results!

Leaking Finished Basement In Vandalia, IL Fitted With WaterGuard And TripleSafe

During periods of heavy rain, water would come out from behind the drywall at the point where the floor and wall meet before pooling on the floor. In order to waterproof the basement, a Woods Basement Systems team led by foreman Greg first had to cut away the bottom half of the drywall and rip up parts of the tile to gain access to the foundation. Once this was done, a WaterGuard drainage system was installed underneath the floor at the base of the leaking walls to catch any and all water. To finish, a TripleSafe sump pump was put in place to remove all of that water from the home. Dan's basement is now totally dry!

Collapsed Basement Wall Reinforced With GeoLock In Farina, IL

Herbert W. of Farina, Illinois awoke one night to a terrifying sound coming from the basement. He went to figure out what caused it, and he was confronted with an equally terrifying sight; one of his basement walls and completely fallen in. Thousands of pounds of dirt, concrete rubble, and items stored in the basement were strewn all over the space. Needless to say, he need help as quickly as possible.

A Woods Basement Systems team arrived at Herbert's home as soon as they could, and they got to work. First, the rubble was removed and a new foundation wall was constructed out of concrete blocks. After this, a GeoLock wall support system was put in place on the new wall and the remaining original walls. These work by connecting heavy anchors buried deep in the firm soil far from the home to steel plates affixed to the interior surface of the walls, effectively pulling them outward over time. Finally, the dirt was poured back into place. With the GeoLock anchors in place, Herbert's walls will not be going anywhere any time soon.

UltraSump Installed

Even the best sump pump will fail if the power goes out. That's why homeowners in Brownstown, IL installed an UltraSump battery-powered pump to kick in as a back up and keep there basement dry when the power goes out.

The UltraSump is a standard feature for our TripleSafe™ sump pump system, which features three pumps to keep basements dry in tough conditions, even when the power is out.

Waterproofing and Supporting Foundation Walls

The foundation walls of this home in Vandalia, IL. were cracked and damaged due to pressure from the soil outside. This pressure would press in on the walls, causing them to crack and bow. To make matters worse, these cracks would allow water in the ground outside to leak into the basement.

To fix the issue with the cracking walls, Clay L. first installed wall anchors. These wall anchors work by attaching a plate on the inside of the wall to a plate buried out in the tough soil outside with a steel rod. This rod will permanently support the wall when the soil outside expands and contracts.

Next, Clay addressed the leak issue by installing WaterGuard™ in the floor along the walls and CleanSpace™ across the surface of the walls. CleanSpace™ is a waterproof liner designed to prevent water and water vapor from entering while also preventing mold growth along its surface. The water that leaks through the wall will drip down the back side of the CleanSpace™ liner and into the WaterGuard™ system at the bottom. WaterGuard™ is a perimeter drainage system designed to catch leaks from below the floor before they rise up to floor level and to catch leaks in the walls before they puddle up on the floor. It works well with CleanSpace™ to keep the inside of the walls and floors totally dry and protected.

These systems can also be installed around the wall anchors, making the basement supported and water proof. Because they have such a low profile, the homeowner can even decide to build a finished wall over the wall anchors and waterproofing system to hide them from view and make the basement into a comfortable, finished space.

Waterproofing for a Finished Basement

Kay H. from Vandalia, IL. had a finished basement that included living space and a bedroom. To protect this space, Kay turned to the experts at Woods Basement Systems to ensure that the basement was safe from water leaking in from outside.

Previously, Woods Basement Systems professionals installed WaterGuard™ along the walls to protect the home from leaks coming from both beneath the ground and through the walls. This system tied back into the existing sump pump so that any water from these sources could be pumped out of the home. But this pump was the weak link in a strong waterproofing system. That's why Kay upgraded to the TripleSafe™ sump pump system.

The TripleSafe™ sump pump system features three pumps in a single sump liner. Pumps one and two can keep up with even the heaviest rains to keep the basement dry while pump three is a battery powered backup that can kick in when the power goes out so that the basement is always protected. The TripleSafe™ also uses two discharge lines, allowing it to pump out more water with its two main pumps than other multi-pump systems that only have one discharge line.

The waterproofing system in this basement can now live up to its full potential with the TripleSafe™ system protecting the basement from flooding even when the power goes out.

Sedona Dehumidifier Installed in Vandalia

Homeowner Heather D. from Vandalia, IL. noticed that, though there weren't any apparent leaks, the air in her basement felt damp and uncomfortable.

Damp basement air can be more than just uncomfortable. Water vapor in the air makes air conditioning less effective. The vapor can also feed mold and dust mites, making the home less healthy as well as less comfortable. Fortunately, the Sedona dehumidifier can solve all of these problems.

The Sedona is a powerful dehumidifier that can wring the air dry while only using the same amount of power as dehumidifiers that are less than half as effective. By drying the air, the Sedona is able to reduce dust mite populations and hault the growth of mold. The integrated air filter will also catch mold spores to stop mold from spreading further and can even filter out dust mite droppings, which are the number one cause of indoor allergies.

Now that Heather D. has a Sedona dehumidifier, she can breathe easy knowing that her home will be more comfortable, more efficient and safer.

The CleanSpace Liner contains an antimicrobial material, which prevents mold growth on the liner. At 20 mils thick, the liner seals the crawl space from the earth, reducing the amount of energy it takes to cool and heat the home. Dave can now enjoy a cleaner crawl space, and a lower energy bill.

Julie D is worried about her foundation settling. Large cracks keep growing wider on the concrete floor, making the slabs uneven.

Clay L and his crew injected PolyLevel into the concrete to raise up and make the slabs level again. This will also lift them back to their original position, and keep them there. Waterproofing a Shobonier, IL Basement

A basement in Shobonier, IL was having some water problems, making the area humid. To solve these issues, Woods first installed the WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage System. These pipes intercept water at the wall and floor joint of the basement and drain it towards the TripleSafe Sump System, which was also installed to pump the water away from the house. This advanced sump pump system will remain working even if there is no power to the house, thanks to the UltraSump battery backup pumping system. Next, a CleanSpace Liner was installed on the basement walls. This will prevent water vapor from permeating the walls and will drain any wall leaks down to WaterGuard. Lastly, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to filter the air and keep it dry. This basement will remain dry and clean for years to come!
