Stair-Stepping Crack
There were two types of cracks shown on the brick walls. The first was a stair-stepping crack. The stair-stepping crack is the result of the pressure the wall is placed under from the outside. As the wall weakens by the pressure, the crack will only grow.

The deep-set crack is the other type of crack the walls revealed. This crack is dangerous because if left untreated, the wall could bow.
