Open Sump Pit & Radon Problem in Hillsboro, IL Open Sump Pit & Radon Problem in Hillsboro, IL

Open sump pump pits are bad for basements for a couple of reasons.  An open pit allows water in the bottom of the sump pit to evaporate back into the basement air and causes musty odors.  When radon gas is present, an open pit gives radon open access to your home as the gas emits from beneath the slab and leaks into your basement. To correct both of these problems, it's important to have a sump pump liner with an air-tight lid.  This Hillsboro, Illinois homeowner contacted us to replace their open sump pit. Woods Basement Systems can retrofit a radon mitigation system for existing sump pump pits to draw the gas from underneath the slab and ventilate it outside.

Joe W. of Hillsboro, Missouri discovered that his basement was collecting water after heavy rain showers. He did not want to have to clean up a mess after each storm, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

Design specialist Chris T. assessed the situation and decided that installing a full waterproofing system would be the best option. Foreman William H. then traveled to the home to get the installment started.

The WaterGuard drainage system, pictured above, was one of the components installed. It was placed above the footing of the basement and was then covered with concrete. The WaterGuard drainage system collects and drains any water coming up from the ground before it reaches the surface of the basement floor.

Joe W. is very happy that he no longer has to worry about any water seeping up through his basement floor. He now has a dry and waterproof basement.

Fast and Effective Concrete Lifting and Leveling

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab, then the PolyLevel polymer is poured into the holes. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on. This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive and arguably more effective than mud jacking which is the procedure PolyLevel replaces. To removed tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling estimate contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways
