Plastic crawl space vapor barriers may block a lot of moister vapor from the dirt but it vents most of it at the perimeter where the plastic cover is open nearest the wall. Over time, this causes the wood floor joist and sill plate at the perimeter to rot, commonly called dry rot. This is due to the seasonal temperature changes and the abundant moisture released from beneath the plastic cover condensing on the wood, then drying, getting absorbed again, then drying, and getting wet another day, then drying... Our CleanSpace® encapsulation system, like the one installed in this Murphysboro, Illinois crawl space, STOPS this problem, helps reduce radon levels, control mold and bugs, and lower energy costs.

An East Saint Louis resident had been living with water in her basement for 6 years. It wasn’t until the problem began getting worse that she gave Woods Basement Systems a call. She would get inches of water in her finished basement every time there was a heavy rain, and she wanted to solve the issue once and for all.
After a thorough inspection, Woods installed WaterGuard, IceGuard, and a TripleSafe sump pump in the resident’s basement. This prevented the water from entering the basement by pumping it out and away from the home. The TripleSafe was able to keep up with the large amounts of water because of its three-pump system. There was not a problem with the WaterGuard clogging because it was installed on top of the footing rather than beside it.
The resident was very satisfied with the waterproofing and now enjoys a dry basement all the time. She rated Woods a 10 out of 10 and said she is very likely to recommend their excellent work.
A resident of Alhambra, IL had lived in his house for 14 years before he noticed the mold in his crawl space. The musty smell upstairs had gradually been getting worse, which is why he went to check out the crawl space. He had no idea how long the mold had been there and where exactly the leaks were located. He was in the process of selling his house and wanted to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.
Woods Basement Systems inspected his crawl space and knew just how to solve the issue. Woods installed a CleanSpace Encapsulation System, SmartSump, and SmartPipe in the crawl space. The SmarPipe collected water from the perimeter of the crawl space and drained it to the SmartSump, designed specifically for crawl spaces. Together, the SmartPipe and SmartPipe solved the water and moisture problems in the resident’s crawl space.

Woods installed a SmartJack system in her crawl space, resulting in lifting the home back toward its original position. The SmartJack Reinforcement System was installed in less than one day, and the resident was highly satisfied with the ending result.
Joe is a homeowner in De Soto. In 2013, fed up with his wet basement, he made a life-changing (or at least home-changing) decision: he called Woods Basement Systems!
Today, his basement looks and feels drier, cleaner, and healthier. Why? It's a three-part answer. Part one is the WaterGuard, a drainage system running the perimeter of the basement floor. WaterGuard rests atop the concrete footing rather than in mud; it will not ever clog!
Part two is the TripleSafe, the surest choice among all sump pumps. This patented system collects water from the WaterGuard and pumps it out to a LawnScape Outlet, where the water is drained safely away from Joe's home. TripleSafe has a second pump to put the mind at ease and a back-up battery for when the power goes out.
Last but not least, Joe purchased three beautiful SunHouse Window Wells. Not only do they brighten up his basement, but these waterproof wells protect your basement window from the elements, dirt, and debris.
Joe took advantage of Woods' free home inspection, and so can you. Our certified specialists will be able to describe your exact basement issue and recommend a plan for repair. Keep your basement dry the Woods way!
This Carterville, IL homeowner didn’t want to completely finish his basement, but also wanted something to give it a clean and polished look, while adding waterproof protection. In the past, he had tried coating the walls with paints and sealants, but moisture still permeated through them. This only made the walls look worse due to the peeling and flaky coatings on them.
Woods solved this homeowner’s issue by installing BrightWall. The BrightWall Paneling System turns basements that may otherwise have been unusable into attractive, dry living spaces. The resident was very pleased with the end result and now enjoys a clean and dry basement.

She was worried that if she left them any longer, the walls would fail so she called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Brandon B inspected her walls and gave Marjorie a perfectly tailored solution to her problems.
Along one wall of the basement, Geo Lock Wall Anchors were installed. Geo Lock Wall Anchors permanently stabilize walls by driving a galvanized anchor rod through the wall and connecting it to an earth anchor that’s buried in the yard. The anchor rod is attached on the inside of the wall to a steel wall plate and then tightened to ensure the wall is held in place and not bow or tilt and further. Geo Lock Wall Anchors can also straighten foundation walls in most cases.
PowerBraces were installed on the other bowing wall in Marjorie’s basement. PowerBraces are used in place of GeoLock Wall Anchors when the yard outside of the wall is inaccessible. PowerBraces reinforce and stabilize bowing walls using corrosion resistant steel beams that are custom fit to the basement walls and attached using steel brackets to the floor joists and concrete floor to hold the wall in place and prevent any further bowing. PowerBraces can also be tightened during dry periods for possible wall improvement.

System design specialist, Jacob K. did an inspection on the home and created a design to resolve the issue. Foreman, Joshua B. did a Cleanspace Encapsulation System installation. The moldy smell is likely due to the mold spores moving into the upper level of the home from the dirt crawlspace. A dirt crawlspace causes a high humidity level which leads to water vapor moving into the upper level as the home. The dampness in the crawlspace also causes mold to reproduce. The Cleanspace consists of a 7-layer liner material that is ran across the floor and up the walls to stop water vapor from coming in.
Jennifer K. now has a bright, clean, and healthy crawlspace.

Installed through a hole smaller than a penny, PolyLEVEL only takes a couple of hours to settle before the area can be used again. Commercially, PolyLEVEL is used on highways, airport runways, and train rail beds.
David now has a level driveway, garage, and entrance sidewalk, removing fear of falls and future damage.

Basements are often known for damp, dank air that makes them feel like caves. But this doesn't have to be the case. Just ask Melissa C. from Springfield, IL.
Melissa C. had a waterproofing system in her basement that could deal with water leaks from her basement walls or floors, but even the best sump pumps can't keep the air feeling dry. That's why Todd G. installed the wonderful Sedona dehumidifier.
The Sedona dehumidifier is a powerful dehumidifier that can draw over 12 gallons of water from the air in a day! On top of that, the Sedona boasts an incredible air filter that can pull tiny particles like mold spores from the air.
With the Sedona in her basement, Melissa C. doesn't have damp cave air in her basement, she has comfortable home air instead.
This incapsulated crawlspace in Carbondale, IL. still had damp, damaging air. The water vapor in the air could still condense on surfaces inside the vapor barrier where it could degrade the wood or feed mold spores that might already be there.
The Sedona air dehumidifier would eliminate this problem easily. The Sedona is a powerful dehumidifier that can remove up to 100 pints of water from the air in a single day. This water is dumped directly into the sump pump so that it can be removed from the crawlspace. Additionally, the Sedona will filter the air, removing mold spores as it removes water vapor, which leads to cleaner air and a cleaner, drier crawlspace.
With the Sedona installed inside this incapsulated crawlspace, the air will be drier, cleaner and safer for the home above it.
