Effective Concrete Leveling & Concrete Sealing

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it.

How PolyLevel works:

  1. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab.
  2. Then the PolyLevel polymer is injected into the holes and expands to provide an accurate lift.
  3. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on.

This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive, and arguably more effective than mud jacking, which is the standard that PolyLevel replaces. We even offer SealantPro concrete sealing, which extends slabs' lifespans by 3 to 5 times overall in just one quick application. This concrete sealing system is resistant to moisture, oil, UV rays, abrasions, and more.

To remove tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel concrete leveling. After, our concrete sealing system will preserve your slabs for a lifetime. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling or concrete sealing estimate, contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways

Cracked Foundation Stabilized in Litchfield, IL

Linda S. of Litchfield, IL had a stone block foundation that was covered in cracks. There were long horizontal cracks that spanned the foundation walls along where they were bowing their worst. There were vertical cracks in certain parts of the foundation floors, walls and stair step cracks near the corners of the basement. Linda was worried about the structural safety of her home so she called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended installing foundation underpinning and foundation wall support systems.

Along two of the bowing, cracked walls, Geo-Lock Wall Anchors. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors permanently stabilize walls in place and prevent future damage by counteracting external soil pressure. To do this, Woods connected steel wall plates on the inside of the walls to earth anchors embedded in the yard using galvanized steel anchor rods. The wall can also be straightened over time by tightening the anchor rods when soil conditions are dry.

On one wall, where landscaping on the outside of the home prevented excavation, Woods installed PowerBraces. PowerBraces are adjustable steel beams held firmly against the wall using heavy duty steel brackets attached to the floor joists and cement floors of the basement. It halts further progression of the wall and stabilizes it in place while also offering the opportunity to improve the wall’s condition by tightening it during dry periods.

Woods installed Push Piers on the inside of the home to address the underlying issue of foundation settlement that caused the vertical cracks. High-strength steel pier segments are hydraulically driven through the earth to load-bearing soil conditions or bedrock. They are attached to steel brackets on the concrete footing of the home so that the weight of the structure is transferred through the piers to the stable soil or bedrock. They can also lift and left the home to a more structurally sound position in most cases.

Linda has peace of mind that her foundation and home are safe and secure and her walls are permanently stabilized.

Exterior Sump Pump and Sill Plate Drainage in Mehlville, MO

Joan, a Mehlville, MO homeowner, developed new problems with a wet basement years after having a Woods Basement Systems sump pump installed. She gave Woods a call and System Design Specialist Clint W. went out to her home. He discovered the new problem was from water pooling around the sill plate outside the home. He developed a plan to return Joan's dry basement.

Foreman Greg H. and his crew installed a sill plate drainage system that lead to an exterior sump pump.

The sill plate is the wood beam between the floor joist and foundation wall. Since there is a gap here, it becomes an area water likes to enter the basement. This can usually be solved by having the landscaping level begin below this level. However, sometimes that is not possible.

In these cases, we will dig a 12-18" trench in the problem area. We line this trench with vapor barrier and place sill plate drainage in the bottom. The capor barrier makes the water enter the pipe instead of seeping down and causing problems at the base of the foundation. These pipes are connected to a pipe the redeposits the water downhill from the home. In cases that the discharge pipe cannot be run far enough from the house, a sump pump can be put in place to force the water away.

Joan can now enjoy a dry home and has peace of mind Woods is always there for her.

The last thing any homeowner wants to see is a water leak inside their home. A homeowner, Paula, from Hillsboro, Illinois knew this all too well. Paula wanted a solution to stop water leaks from affecting the health of her basement and leaned on Woods Basement Systems for a solution. She worked with system design specialist, Chris T., to develop a plan to waterproof her basement. After going over the plan, it was decided that a TripleSafe sump pump along with WaterGuard drains would be installed.

The home previously didn't have a sump pump, so this was first on the list of needs. A sump pump is a system that pumps water leaks out of the home. A TripleSafe sump pump was selected due to its dependability. This system contains three pumps with one primary pump and two backup pumps. If the primary pump ever fails, the system will switch to one of the battery-operated backup pumps.

The WaterGuard drainage system was installed next in the footing of the basement walls. These are used to collect the pesky water leaks and direct them to the TripleSafe pump. WaterGuards stop water leaks at the source before they can create water damage in the basement. With the help of Woods' top waterproofing products, this basement is ready to take on any water leak!

Protecting Crawlspaces from Moisture

One of the most harmful things to enter a crawlspace is water vapor. This water vapor will condense on the cooler surfaces in the crawlspace, like the walls or the floor joists that make up the ceiling. Once inside, water vapor damages the surfaces and fuels rampant mold growth. This mold and water damage can wreak havoc on floors above the crawlspace as they weaken the joists. This could lead to sagging or bouncing floors which would result in costly repairs.

It is easier instead to block the water vapor from entering the crawlspace. One way water vapor enters the crawlspace is through the dirt floors. The owners of this crawlspace have taken measures against that by placing waterproof tarps down across the floor. While this isn't a product specifically designed to protect crawlspaces like CleanSpace™ it is definitely a step in the right direction and a good idea. But the homeowners didn't block water vapor from entering through the windows! Humid air will be drawn into the crawlspace and bring water with it. This humid air will feed mold growth and cause the crawlspace to fill with damp, uncomfortable air.

By blocking the windows in the crawlspace, the homeowners would be able to protect the crawlspace from water vapor present in humid air. Not only will this help stop mold growth and protect the longevity of the home, but it can also lower heating and cooling costs as the crawlspace can be insulated and the drier air can be conditioned properly.
