Job Stories From Vermilion County, IL
DryTrak Installation in Danville, IL

A resident of Danville, IL wanted a permanent waterproof solution to his wet basement.  The walls had begun to crack and slightly bow, resulting in water leakage during heavy rains.  Woods Basement Systems installed Geo-Lock Wall Anchors in order to stabilize the walls and close up any cracks.  Wall Anchors prevent any further bowing of the walls and provide an opportunity for the walls to straighten over time.  In regards to waterproofing, DryTrak is the logical solution for a wet basement with a monolithic foundation, meaning the footing and floor are one piece.  The DryTrak system keeps basements dry so they can be used for storage space, recreational purposes, or additional living space.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchor Installation in Danville, IL

A Danville, IL homeowner discovered large cracks in his basement walls years ago and tried to seal them on his own.  However, the sealant did not last and now the cracks are growing larger.  The resident wanted to close the cracks and prevent any water, insects, or other unwanted debris from entering his basement.

Woods Basement Systems solved this homeowner’s problem by installing a Geo-Lock Wall Anchor system.  Wall anchors are the proven solution for cracked or bowing walls.  They stabilize the walls and provide the best opportunity to straighten them over time.  By installing wall anchors, Woods was able to help the resident by closing the cracks in his basement walls and preventing any further bowing.

New Sump Pumps in Danville, IL

Julie had an old sump pump that wasn't working as hard as she wanted it too.  She called Woods Basement Systems and had a System Design Specialist come to her home.  Scott Mans suggested Julie upgrade to the Triple Safe and Ultra Sump Pumps.  Triple Safe would make sure the water stays out of the basement and the Ultra Sump Pump would be the back-up system in case the other one loses power.  She thought this was the perfect solution.  Now she lives with peace of mind that her basement will stay dry.

Flooding Danville, IL Basement Requires Waterproofing

Cindy and Walter had flooding several inches deep in their basement and water pooling in the backyard. These homeowners needed something powerful enough to pump the water out and something to take the pumped water away from the house.

This is where the TripleSafe sump pump and exterior discharge line come into play. TripleSafe, with its three pump configuration, has a normal operating pump, a back up pump and a battery operating pump, minimizing the failure of the pump system. The exterior discharge line is then able to take the water from TripleSafe away from the home, eliminating pooling in yards.

After these installations, Cindy and Walter were happy to see the water disappear from their basement and backyard.

WaterGuard & BrightWall Instllation in Ballwin, MO

Ballwin couple, Kevin & Sue, were tired of dealing with their basement flooding every time it rained.  Their waterproofing system was not working and they could not figure out why.  Realizing they absolutely needed the space for storage, they were referred to Woods Basement Systems by a friend.

On September 11th, 2012, System Design Specialist, David Palmer met with the couple to diagnose their issue.  David explained that the water was seeping through their walls, floors, and joints between them.  He informed them that their original waterproofing system seemed to be clogged.  This could be fixed, but he warned them it probably would not be long-lasting.  He then suggested a permanent solution, the WaterGuard system.  Kevin & Sue were instantly appealed to the fact that it was a non-clogging pipe system that does not rot.  After doing more research on the products of Basement Systems, they decided that they wanted BrightWall panels to enhance the aesthetics of the dark, bare basement walls.  Three days after their meeting with David, foreman Chris Armstrong and his crew arrived to save their basement.

Just in one day, the new interior drainage system was installed.  The WaterGuard system is barely noticeable as it is hidden beneath a layer of concrete, which enthused the couple.  The BrightWall panels, which were designed to work hand in hand with the WaterGuard system, has transformed their basement from a damp & dark room to a bright & open area that is perfect for neat and dry storage.  Kevin & Sue could not be happier with their new basement and continue to reference Woods Basement Systems to their friends.

These covers create an air tight seal and do not allow water or moisture into the crawlspace.

A SaniDry was installed to filter moisture out of the air in the crawlspace. A SaniDry is a dehumidifier for the space and will help control the humidity. Controlling the humidity of the crawlspace will reduce energy bills and make the home more comfortable because the air that is moving into the house is more controlled.

Crawlspace Encapsulated in Westville, IL

Stuart and Michelle W. of Westville, IL had a crawlspace that flooded each time it rained. Standing water caused the wood beams above to rot and mold to grow on the walls of the crawlspace. Humidity in the crawlspace was causing musty smells to waft into the house. Stuart and Michelle were fed up with their damp, dirty crawlspace so they called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Greg B. inspected the crawlspace inside and out and recommended crawlspace encapsulation.

Woods installed CleanSpace over the walls and floors of the crawlspace. CleanSpace is a thick, durable plastic liner that creates a vapor barrier that prevents moisture from getting into the crawlspace. Drainage matting was installed on the dirt floors of the crawlspace, under the CleanSpace. It’s dimpled so it creates channels for standing water to flow towards the drainage system.

The SmartSump was installed to collect water from the SmartPipe and pump it out and away from the crawlspace through the discharge line. The SmartPump is designed to form and airtight seal with the CleanSpace and contains a powerful cast-iron pump. The IceGuard was installed on the discharge line on the exterior of the crawlspace. Crawlspace Encapsulated in Danville, IL

The crawl space of James M.’s Danville, IL flooded each time it rained. The standing water had attracted pests, fostered mold growth and started rotting the floor joists above. James had a flimsy plastic liner on the floor of the crawl space that did nothing to keep water from getting in and the pump in place was no longer working so he called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Kevin E. inspected the crawl space and found the best solution would be a crawl space encapsulation system.

Over the foundation walls and floors, Woods installed CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a bright, thick plastic moisture barrier that is mold resistant and prevents water from entering the crawl space, making the crawl space inhospitable for pests. It directs water down to the drainage system.

Drainage matting was installed under the CleanSpace along the dirt floors of the crawl space. Its dimpled design provides channels for standing water to disperse to the drainage system.

SmartPipe was installed along the perimeter of the crawl space. SmartPipe is a drainage system that has rows of holes covered in filter fabric so mud and debris from the dirt floors won’t clog it as it collects water from the walls and floors of the crawl space and drains it to the sump pump.

Woods replaced the old, nonfunctioning sump pump with the TripleSafe. The TripleSafe contains three pumps, including a battery back up pump, to ensure encroaching water is constantly being pumped out and away from the crawl space through its discharge lines, even when weather is very severe or power has gone out.

IceGuards were installed on the exterior of the home. They are attached to the discharge lines and have slotted openings that prevents water from getting back into the crawl space if the lines become frozen during cold winter months.

The SaniDry dehumidifier was also installed in the crawl space. The SaniDry removes up to 109 pints of water from the crawl space air to prevent rot and mold growth as well as musty smells.

James M. has peace of mind that his crawl space will remain dry and can be safely used for storage without worries about pests or flooding.
