The basement floor held the bottom row of the block foundation in place but the upper part sheared, bowing inward.  The house in Glen Carbon, Illinois required a wall anchoring system to stop the inward movement.

This Glen Carbon, Illinois doorway was hard to open and close. The brick had cracked because the house had dropped over an inch. Woods installed push piers to lift and stabilize the home.

Covering the sump pump pit with a solid cover is a good idea.  Having the sump pump closed prevents water vapor from escaping and raising the humidity level in the basement.  Our SuperSump® sump pump, like the one installed in this Glen Carbon, Illinois home, closes the top with a very sturdy lid, gaskets around the power cord and discharge pipe and has a built-in properly functioning drain.
