This finished Mt. Vernon, Illinois basement was having water leak issues. Water would stream out from behind the drywall and pool on the floor during periods of heavy rainfall. This moisture had ruined sections of drywall and damaged furniture, and the homeowner was eager to get it taken care of.
Because the basement was finished BEFORE waterproofing, sections of drywall and flooring had to be removed before work could begin. A Woods Basement Systems team first installed under-floor WaterGuard drains at the base of the leaking walls to catch any and all water. After this, a CleanSpace vapor barrier was affixed over the wall to seal out moisture.
Before this Mount Vernon, Illinois basement had no means of protection against pesky water leaks. With the help of Team Woods, this was solved right away! One of the products used was a WaterGuard drainage system used to collect and direct water leaks towards the home's sump pump.
Over the years, several of these Mt. Vernon, Illinois basement's walls had become badly cracked. The homeowner worried that, if left unchecked, this damage might eventually cause a total wall collapse. In order to reinforce the walls and put the homeowner's mind at ease, a Woods Basement Systems team installed several GeoLock wall supports. These work by connecting heavy anchors buried in the firm soil far from the home to steel plates affixed to the interior surface of the damaged walls, effectively pulling them outward and straightening them over time.
SmartJacks were used to stabilize and level the sinking floor in this Mount Vernon, Illinois crawl space. Team Woods installed several SmartJacks throughout the crawl space to reinforce the troubled foundation.
This crawlspace beneath a home in Mount Vernon, IL. was protected against water damage with a light waterproof layer. This liner would block water and water vapor from risingin out of the dirt floor and into the crawlspace, where it could cause damage to the wooden structure above.
However, this liner was little more than plastice sheets. This liner was not durable and could tear easily. It also wasn't mold resistant, allowing mold to grow across its surface and cause damage to the liner and possibly spread to anything the liner touched.
That's why the homeowners hired Woods Basement Systems to upgrade their crawlspace protection with CleanSpace™. CleanSpace™ is a durable waterproofing liner made of several layers. The bottom layer is textured to allow water to flow beneath it so that any water built up there can flow to the sump pump. The top layer is a clean, white liner that will keep the inside totally dry. CleanSpace™ also features and anti-microbial layer that will prevent mold from growing on its surface.
With the new CleanSpace™ liner installed, the homeowner won't have to worry about their crawlspace protection tearing or growing moldy. Plus, the crawlspace is transformed into a useful space for safe storage in a nice clean room.
