Belle Rive, Illinois resident Richard's basement suffered water seepage from cracks in the brick foundation. This water seeapge caused mold to thrive, created a musty environement, and risked damaging his belongings. Richard tried at home solutions to collect the water but failed.

As part of his waterproofing system, the TripleSafe sump pump system was installed. TripleSafe is equipped with a main pump, backup pump, and battery-powered pump to ensure the basement stays dry all the time. It is also sealed to prevent moisture from escaping into the basement.

Richard of Belle Rive, Illinois discovered several cracks in his brick foundation. A Woods Basement Systems System Design Specialist concluded that the cracks were a result of bowing walls. Increased water pressure in the soil caused the walls to bow in and crack.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchors were installed to restore the walls to their original position and provide permanent support. To give the basement a finished look, Wall covers were installed over the anchors.

Many basements experience water leakage where the wall meets the floor. That's because water can build up beneath the house by the footing. This water eventually seeps in through the gap between the wall and the floor.

Basement walls can also leak through gaps and cracks, adding to the water seeping into the basement. Block walls often face this problem, as water permeates the many cracks between the blocks.

One waterproofing system is specifically designed to handle water soaking through those places. The system is called WaterGuard™. WaterGuard™ is installed on top of the foundation, beneath the floor - where it will catch water before it rises above the floor - and against the wall, where it will catch water that drips down the cracks of the wall.

All this water is directed away from the basement and into the sump pump system where it will be pumped out of the home. With WaterGuard™ installed in the perfect spot, water leaks through the floor or through the wall are handled together.

Fast and Effective Concrete Lifting and Leveling

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it.

How PolyLevel works:

  1. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab.
  2. Then the PolyLevel polymer is injected into the holes and expands to provide an accurate lift.
  3. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on.

This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive, and arguably more effective than mud jacking, which is the standard that PolyLevel replaces. We even offer SealantPro concrete sealing, which extends slabs' lifespans by 3 to 5 times overall in just one quick application. This concrete sealing system is resistant to moisture, oil, UV rays, abrasions, and more.

To remove tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel concrete leveling. After, our concrete sealing system will preserve your slabs for a lifetime. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling or concrete sealing estimate, contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways

Needing A New Dehumidifier

Katie W. of Belle Rive, IL. had a dehumidifier running in her basement, but that dehumidifier wasn't giving the results she needed.

That's because dehumidifiers like this one are inefficient at removing moisture from the air and often rely on buckets to catch the water they collect. Once those buckets are filled, the dehumidifier shuts off until the buckets are emptied.

While Katie's dehumidifier did empty automatically into her drainage system, it wasn't able to keep up with the moisture in the air, making her home feel dank and cave-like. The best solution was to switch her old dehumidifier out with a Sedona dehumidifier.

The Sedona not only drains automatically, but it can remove up to 100 pints of water from the air every day. That's nearly 12 and a half gallons! This system will keep her home at exactly the right amount of moisture in the air and it can do it with the same amount of power use as much smaller dehumidifiers.

As if that wasn't enough, it can also filter the air, removing particles like dust mites or mold spores. Not only will this give the air a clean, comfortable feel and smell, but it will also protect the home against mold and reduce exposure to allergens like dust mite droppings.

Katie W. can breathe a sigh of dry, comfortable relief with the Sedona dehumidifier removing moisture and nasty particles from her air.

Window Woes

Windows are a vulnerable place in a basement where water can leak through. Just look at this window in Belle Rive, IL.

There are several ways to fix this problem, like installing a more water-proof window well or adding a WellDuct™, which is a vertical drainage system inside the house that drains the water from the window well and into the sump pump system.

Richard H. of Belle Rive, IL decided on better window wells with a domed cover to prevent rainwater from pouring in and Wood's Basement Systems was able to help him with that.

Belle Rive, Illinois Basement Restored with GeoLock, Waterproofing, SaniDry, and SunHouse Window Well

Richard, Belle Rive, Illinois homeowner, was distraught by his basement. He discovered several cracks in his brick foundation that allowed water to leak in. The water seepage caused mold and created an unwelcoming environment. Richard also discovered cracks and water leaks around his basement window. A Woods Basement Systems System Design Specialist visited Richard's home and inspected the basement and foundation. He discovered that the walls were bowing due to increased water pressure in the soil, and designed a solution to support Richard's home and keep his basement dry all the time.

First, Team Woods installed a waterproofing system consisting of WaterGuard, a TripleSafe sump pump system, BrightWall, and IceGuard. BrightWall creates a clean appearance and works with the waterproofing system to guide water to the WaterGuard. WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system, collects and guides water to the TripleSafe sump pump system. TripleSafe is equipped with three pumps to ensure the basement stays dry. Lastly, IceGuard is attached to the exterior discharge line to provide an exit for water in the event that the discharge lines become frozen or clogged.

In addition to waterproofing the basement, we stabilized the foundation using Geo-Lock Wall Anchors. Geo-Lock is made of galvanized steel and provide permanent support for bowing walls. The EverLast window and SunHouse window well was also installed. These are made of inorganic materal and designed to prevent water, debris, and criters from entering the basement. Lastly, to keep mold away, SaniDry, an energy-efficient dehumidifier, was installed. SaniDry keeps moisture levels low, which reduces mold and creates a more comfortable environment.

With these solutions, Richard can have peace of mind knowing his home is safe and his basement is dry.
