This Decatur, Illinois crawl space was suffering from mold and water seepage. Woods Basement Systems replaced the existing clogged sump pumps with the SmartPipe drainage system and sealed the crawlspace with a vapor barrier called CleanSpace.
In the photo you can see a shadow at the top of the wood studs on the foundation wall: this is how far in the finished drywall needed to be because of the bowing in effect. The reason we were called out to this Decatur, Illinois home was to stop the wall from moving in any further. The wall continued to push in damaging the finished drywall and the homeowner wanted to fix the problem once and for all. Otherwise, just resetting the finished wall in a couple of inches only would buy time until the force of the inward movement would damage the drywall a second time. We installed our Geo-Lock® wall anchoring system to permanently solve the problem.
Jeff H. discovered mold growing in his basement when water leaked in where the floor meets the wall. Gregory B., system design specialist, designed a solution to keep Jeff's Basement dry.
WaterGuard is a perimeter drainage system that guides water to the TwinPack sump pump system instaled by Juan H. and his crew. With the WaterGuard and TwinPack, Jeff's basement is no longer wet and moldy.

He had been living in his home for 23 years and wanted to get the problem solved as soon as possible. His biggest concern was selling his house and doing whatever needed to be done to make that happen.
Woods Basement Systems came out to inspect his crawl space and found inches of standing water. In order to eliminate humidity, odors, and mold in the crawl space, Woods decided to install CleanSpace, SmartPipe, and a SuperSump. The CleanSpace system kept the crawl space clean and dry, while the SmartPipe and SuperSump pumped water out and away from the home.

Foundation settlement is a common issue among older homes and buildings. Some common indicators of foundation problems are cracks extending from doors and windows, windows coming out of their square, and stair-step cracking. It is important to get the problem solved rather than putting it off because the settlement will only get worse over time. As the foundation problem does get worse, it’s going to cost more to fix it.

WaterGuard was installed along the basement walls, under the concrete floors, to collect water seeping in through the basement floors and walls and take it to the sump pump. The TripleSafe sump pump system was installed. It contains three pumps: a primary pump, a secondary pump and a battery back up pump. Each pump adds an extra level of protection from water flooding in and the battery back up pump ensures that system will keep pumping water out of the basement in a power outage. The TripleSafe pumps the water through a discharge line and out of the basement, away from the house. An IceGuard was installed on the discharge line to keep water being pumped out from coming back in if the discharge line becomes frozen or clogged.

Phyllis B. no longer worries about water damaging her finished basement.
Rod Z. of Decatur, IL had a surprising amount of water coming into his basement along cracks that had formed between his walls and floors, which was causing mold and mildew to grow. He also had large stair step cracks along the stone bricks of his foundation walls. He was worried these might be signs of larger problems so he called Woods Basement Systems for a free assessment. Design Specialist Greg B inspected the inside and outside of the home and found the perfect solution for Rod.
Woods installed Geo-Lock Wall anchors along the walls. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors permanently stabilize walls using steel wall plates connected through the wall to galvanized steel earth anchors by an anchor rod. They are tightened to ensure the wall won’t move or bow any further and in most cases, can straighten the walls. In an area where the outside of the foundation wall was inaccessible, they installed a PowerBrace. PowerBraces are heavy-duty steel beams that are fit against the wall and held in place by steel brackets attached to the cement floor and wooden floor joists. They prevent the wall from moving in any further and because they are adjustable, they can be tightened over time for the opportunity to straighten the wall.
WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement, under the concrete floors. It’s a drainage system that sits on top of the concrete footing of the foundation so it is out of the way of any mud that may clog it. It collects water coming in through the walls and floors and drains it away to the sump pump.
A Twin Pack sump pump system was installed. It contains two powerful, cast-iron pumps, a primary and secondary, to ensure that if one pump fails or can’t keep up with all the water coming in, the other pump will keep unwanted water pumping out of the basement through the discharge lines. On the discharge lines, IceGuards were installed. It’s slotted openings allows trapped water in discharges lines that have become frozen or clogged to flow out into the yard, rather than run back into the basement.
Rod Z. is happy to know his foundation walls are permanently stabilized and his basement will stay dry even in severe weather.
Dave K. of Decatur, IL had a major water problem in his crawlspace. Water was flooding into his crawlspace and had nowhere to go. The standing water was causing the wood beams in the crawlspace to rot and mold to grow along the walls. Dave was worried about the water damage and wanted to make his crawlspace a usable space so he called Woods Basement Systems for a free estimate. Design Specialist Kevin E. inspected the crawlspace and recommended crawlspace encapsulation.
Over the walls and floors of the crawlspace, CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed. CleanSpace is a thick plastic liner that prevents moisture from entering into the crawlspace and gives the crawlspace a brighter and cleaner appearance. Drainage matting was installed along the dirt floors of the crawlspace underneath the CleanSpace. Drainage matting is dimpled which provides channels for standing water to disperse to the drainage system.
Along the perimeter of the crawlspace, SmartPipe was installed. SmartPipe is a drainage system designed for crawlspaces with dirt floors. It has rows of holes that are covered in filter fabric so it won’t become clogged with dirt or debris as it collects water from the floors and foundation walls of the crawlspace and drains it away to the sump pump for removal.
The TwinPack sump pump system was installed. The Twin Pack contains two powerful, cast-iron pumps that ensure that water is being pumped out of the crawlspace through its discharge lines, even in severe weather. On the exterior of the crawlspace, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. IceGuards have slotted openings to allow water to escape if the lines become frozen or clogged.
Within the crawlspace, the SaniDry dehumidifier was installed. The SaniDry prevents rot, mold growth and musty smells in the crawlspace by keeping the relative humidity low.
Dave K. is thrilled that his crawlspace is now usable and he can safely store his belongings.
Jason W. of Decatur, IL had a very wet crawl space. Water leaked into the crawl space and made the dirt floors a muddy mess. Even though he had a plastic liner in there, it did was flimsy and did nothing to keep water out of the space. The standing water from the leaks made the crawl space very humid which was rotting the wood floor joists and rusting pipes and ductwork that ran through the space. He couldn’t use the space for storage and was worried about the damage caused by the amount of moisture in the crawl space so he called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended a crawl space encapsulation system.
Woods installed CleanSpace along the foundation walls and dirt floors in the crawl space. Unlike the flimsy, 6 mil thick liners that bunch and rip, CleanSpace is a 20 mil thick, durable plastic moisture barrier that is secured in place to form an airtight seal and prevent moisture as well as outside air and pests from entering the space. It directs moisture to the drainage system below. It’s also treated with an anti-microbial finish that prevents mold and mildew growth on or under the liner.
Drainage matting was installed under the CleanSpace liner. Its dimpled designed provides channels for standing water under the encapsulation system to disperse to the drainage system.
The SmartPipe drainage system was installed along the perimeter of the crawl space. SmartPipe has multiple rows of channel holes that are covered in a special filter fabric that prevents it from being clogged by mud or other debris as it collects water from the foundation walls and dirt floors and drains it to the sump pump.
The SmartSump was installed to accept the water from the SmartPipe and expel it safely away from the crawl space through its discharge line. The SmartSump contains a powerful cast-iron pump and features a lid that was designed to form an airtight seal with the CleanSpace liner. It also has a WaterWatch alarm to alert the homeowners of possible plumbing leaks within the encapsulated crawl space.
An IceGuard was installed on the discharge line on the exterior of the crawl space. If the line becomes frozen or blocked by snow during the winter, the IceGuard has slotted openings to allow trapped water to escape to the yard and not back up into the basement.
Jason W. is thrilled he can finally use his crawl space for storage and he no longer has to worry about damage from high humidity.
Decatur, Illinois homeowner Brian F. was troubled by his settling foundatin. The foundation settled with the soil around his home and cracked. A Woods Basement Systems system design specialist designed a solution to support the foundation.

Jeff A. of Centralia, IL was worried when he discovered that his crawl space was holding water. Because air rises, having a wet crawl space can cause all kinds of problems. Any mold spores and allergens in the crawl space can end up coming through a home's vents, which means that the homeowner is breathing in these allergens constantly. Fortunately, Jeff decided to call Woods Basement Systems, and we were happy to help!
After design specialist Brandon B. assessed the home and determined the best solution, foreman Joshua B. traveled to the home. He started off by installing a SmartPipe system with an exterior discharge line and IceGuard, a SmartSump, and a SaniDry CX. The SmartPipe drainage system has holes on the top and front which helps collect water from the ground and the surface of the crawl space, leaving a drier area. The SmartSump is a sump pump made specifically for crawl spaces. With the help of the exterior discharge line, it moves water out and away from the crawl space. In case of a cold winter, the IceGuard provides a different path for water if the discharge line freezes. The SaniDry CX is a special dehumidifier made for crawl spaces. It collects any water vapor present and drains into the sump pump. Finally foreman Joshua B. installed an EverLast Door. This door is made out of inorganic material that seals the crawl space and keeps out water and any air leakage.
After the installment of all these waterproofing products, Jeff A. no longer has to worry about any water collecting in his home's crawl space.
Scott B. of Forsyth, Illinois noticed multiple cracks in his walls. He did not want to ignore the problem and allow the damage to get worse, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

Dan L. of Forsyth, Illinois noticed that water was flooding his basement after a big rain shower. He called Woods Basement Systems for help.
Design specialist Gregory B. assessed the situation and decided the best plan of action would be to install a WaterGuard drainage system. The WaterGuard drainage system is placed above the footing and collects any water that comes up from the ground below. It then drains the water before it reaches the surface of the basement floor.
Dan L. no longer has to worry about water seeping through the basement floor and flooding the room. His home now has a dry and waterproof basement.
Betty B. of Decatur, Illinois discovered that her crawl space was holding water. She knew that standing water could cause mold growth and rotting. She did not want these problems to occur, so she called Woods Basement Systems.
Design specialist Gregory B. assessed the situation and decided that installing a SmartPipe drainage system, a SmartSump sump pump, a CleanSpace Encapsulation System, and a SilverGlo Insulation Systems. Foreman James L. then headed to the home to start the project.
The CleanSpace Encapsulation System was placed on the floors and up the walls of the crawl space. It is a durable liner that provides a water vapor barrier and seals the crawl space from the earth. The SmartPipe drainage system accepts water from both the surface and the soil of the crawl space. It then drains it to the SmartSump sump pump. The SmartSump is a sump pump specially made for crawl spaces. It collects and expels water to the outside of the home. Finally, the SilverGlo Insulation System is placed on the walls of the crawl space. It acts as a vapor barrier and keeps the crawl space dry, while also insulating the area.
Betty B. no longer has to worry about standing water causing mold or rotting in her crawl space. She now has a completely dry and waterproof crawl space.
Dan K. of Washington, Missouri discovered that his home's basement was collecting water. He did not want to have to clean up a mess after every heavy rain, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

This home in Chesterfield, MO. was experiencing bowing walls. The pressure from the soil outside pressing in was causing the foundation walls to bend inward slightly. Over time, this pressure and bending could cause severe damage ranging from cracks up to collapsed walls.
To fix this problem, foreman Todd G. of Woods Basement Systems installed GeoLock wall anchors. This system can not only stop walls from bowing, but can sometimes even reverse the process, straightening the walls back out to their original position.
The wall anchor system works by burying a plate outside in the compacted soil and running a steel rod through the loose soil and into the home, where it attaches to a second plate inside. The two plates are pulled together by the rod, pulling the foundation walls into a strong, supported position permanently.
With wall anchors in place in this home in Chesterfield, the homeowners won't have to worry about their foundation walls failing anymore.
