Effective Concrete Leveling & Concrete Sealing

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it.

How PolyLevel works:

  1. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab.
  2. Then the PolyLevel polymer is injected into the holes and expands to provide an accurate lift.
  3. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on.

This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive, and arguably more effective than mud jacking, which is the standard that PolyLevel replaces. We even offer SealantPro concrete sealing, which extends slabs' lifespans by 3 to 5 times overall in just one quick application. This concrete sealing system is resistant to moisture, oil, UV rays, abrasions, and more.

To remove tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel concrete leveling. After, our concrete sealing system will preserve your slabs for a lifetime. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling or concrete sealing estimate, contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways

Job Stories From Marion County, IL
WaterGuard Saves Wet Basement

A Carmi, IL resident was tired of dealing with a wet basement every time it rained for the past 22 years.  The water would come in through cracks in the walls and at the floor joints during heavy rains.  She was concerned about the possibility of mold and wanted a dry basement that she could use for storage.

Woods Basement Systems installed WaterGuard, IceGuard, and TrenchDrain in order to collect all of the water and lead it out and away from the house.  The resident was very pleased with the work that was done by Woods and said they were the most professional crew she has ever worked with.

Wet Crawl Space in Mount Vernon, IL

A resident of Mount Vernon, IL called Woods Basement Systems to clean up his crawl space and eliminate humidity, odors, and mold.  He had been living in his house for 6 years and was aware of the problem since he first moved in.  He finally decided to do something about it when 4 inches of standing water accumulated in his crawl space.  Some of the wood had begun to rot, and this was a big concern of the resident.

Woods installed a CleanSpace Encapsulation System, including CleanSpace liner and a SaniDry CX.  The clean white material covered the floor and walls of the crawl space, making it a nice dry storage space for the resident.  The SaniDry CX acted as an air filter and dehumidifier, resulting in dry clean air in the crawl space.

The resident was extremely pleased with the installation and how much of a difference it made in his crawl space.  Now he no longer had to worry about rotting wood and other issues that could lead to major problems in his crawl space.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchors Keep House Standing in Salem, IL

Lisa and Billy dreamed of having a beautiful basement. Before Woods Basement System, the dream was just that--a dream. The basement walls were cracking and bowing, and despite homemade attempts to seal the windows water still continuously leaked in. The leaks stained the walls; paint would only cover the problem until the next rainfall. The bowing walls definitely concerned them; it was only going to get worse.

However, Woods told Lisa and Billy that their dream could become reality. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors installed by a Woods team held the bowing walls in place, and five SunHouse Window Wells increased brightness in the basement and stopped water from entering.

Woods also installed WaterGuard, two different waterproofing systems that seamlessly work together to keep any basement dry.

WaterGuard is a patented drainage system that runs along the perimeter of the basement above the footing; its unique design keeps debris from clogging the system. WaterGuard includes special above-ground flanges that create a tiny amount of space between the wall and the ground; water from the wall will go right into WaterGuard instead of your basement floor!

Lisa and Billy now have their dream basement thanks to Woods Basement Systems. The floor and walls are dry, the foundation is supported properly, and the windows stopped leaking!

Crawlspaces Insulated and Encapsulated in St. Elmo, IL

Randy and Jennifer I. of St. Elmo, IL had two crawlspaces that were causing major issues in their home. Standing water would get into their crawlspaces which caused mold to grow on the walls and the beams above to rot. The floors above the larger crawlspace were sagging because of the weakened beams. Drafts and musty smells came into their home from their crawlspace, as well, so they called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Greg B. inspected the crawlspaces and recommended installing a crawlspace encapsulation system as well as SmartJacks.

SmartJacks were installed along the beams of the larger crawlspace. SmartJacks are adjustable steel columns that are held in place by concrete footings that will support and stabilize floors in place and can also lift floors back to their original position.

SilverGlo Insulation Panels were installed along the walls of the crawlspaces. SilverGlo is made of rigid polystyrene foam insulate the crawlspace and prevents air infiltration. It’s waterproof so it forms a moisture barrier over the walls and directs water to the perimeter drainage system.

CleanSpace was installed along the walls and floors of the crawlspaces. CleanSpace is a durable, thick plastic liner that forms a vapor barrier between the foundation walls and dirt floors which will reduce humidity in the crawlspace and prevent any moisture from getting in.

Basement Waterproofed in Fenton, MO

Rachel and Tim W. of Fenton, MO had an alarming amount of water leaking into their basement each time it rained. They had a sump pump that was no longer functioning so they called Woods Basement Systems for a free estimate. Design Specialist John S. inspected the basement and recommended installing a basement waterproofing system.

Woods installed WaterGuard along the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard is a drainage system that is situated away from any mud that might clog it as it drains away water collected from the foundation walls and floors of the basement.

The TripleSafe was installed to replace the old, nonfunctioning sump pump. It contains three powerful pumps, including a battery back up pump, to ensure that even in severe weather conditions or power outages, water will continue to be removed from the basement through the discharge lines. On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. If the discharge lines become frozen, the IceGuard has slotted opening for water to escape so it doesn’t come back into the basement.

Rachel and Tim W. are relieved that they had a waterproofing system that works and they no longer have to worry about their basement during bad weather.

Crawl Space Waterproofing in Centralia, IL

Jeff A. of Centralia, IL was worried when he discovered that his crawl space was holding water. Because air rises, having a wet crawl space can cause all kinds of problems. Any mold spores and allergens in the crawl space can end up coming through a home's vents, which means that the homeowner is breathing in these allergens constantly. Fortunately, Jeff decided to call Woods Basement Systems, and we were happy to help!

After design specialist Brandon B. assessed the home and determined the best solution, foreman Joshua B. traveled to the home. He started off by installing a SmartPipe system with an exterior discharge line and IceGuard, a SmartSump, and a SaniDry CX. The SmartPipe drainage system has holes on the top and front which helps collect water from the ground and the surface of the crawl space, leaving a drier area. The SmartSump is a sump pump made specifically for crawl spaces. With the help of the exterior discharge line, it moves water out and away from the crawl space. In case of a cold winter, the IceGuard provides a different path for water if the discharge line freezes. The SaniDry CX is a special dehumidifier made for crawl spaces. It collects any water vapor present and drains into the sump pump. Finally foreman Joshua B. installed an EverLast Door. This door is made out of inorganic material that seals the crawl space and keeps out water and any air leakage.

After the installment of all these waterproofing products, Jeff A. no longer has to worry about any water collecting in his home's crawl space.

Over the years, much of the supporting soil had been washed away by rainwater, causing many of the concrete slabs to crack and sink under their own weight. The patio was an unsafe eyesore, and the couple was eager to have it taken care of.

In order to repair the damaged concrete, foreman Kevin and his team used PolyLevel. This expanding composite foam was injected underneath the sunken slabs through tiny holes in the surface. The foam quickly lifted the slabs and filled in the cracks, and the patio was ready to be used in just 30 minutes!

Crawlspace Maintenance

Kathy I. used to live in a home in Salem, IL with a dirt crawlspace. To protect her home from the damaging water vapors and mold that dirt crawlspaces can create, Kathy I. turned to Wood's Basement Systems to install their vapor barrier CleanSpace™.

The CleanSpace™ barrier protects her home from harmful water vapors as well as being mold-resistant. To keep the crawlspace in the best condition, foreman Ben S. performed an annual maintenance check. In addition to making sure the vapor barrier was in good condition, Ben S. also checked for mold or damage to the crawlspace and replaced the filter in the dehumidifier.

In one quick check-up, Ben S. made sure that Kathy I. had a crawlspace that would stand up in tough weather conditions for another year and many more to come.

Supporting Bowing Foundation Walls

Soil around a home can naturally expand and contract depending on the weather. Though you can't usually see this expansion, it can have a great impact on foundation walls.

For this home in Kell, IL., expanding soil pressed against the foundation walls enough to cause them to buckle and bow inward. This bowing can not only cause cracks, but if left unfixed, can lead to a collapsed wall.

Sometimes a contractor recommends a halfwall be built to support the old wall. While this might increase the strength of the wall slightly, the halfwall can be disruptive to the space and might begin to bow inward itself. Instead, Woods Basement Systems uses wall anchors. Wall anchors work by burying an anchor plate out in the undisturbed soil and connecting it to a plate inside with a steel rod. The plates are tightened and pull on each other with the rod. Because the anchor plate is buried in steady soil, it will pull the bowing wall more. This strenghtens the wall and can be used to straighten the wall back out as well. Plus these plates have a low profile, meaning they can be hidden behind finished walls and won't disrupt the space.

Bowing walls won't threaten the integrity of this home in Kell, IL. now that wall anchors are in place to permanently hold the wall into the proper position.

Unique Outdoor Waterproofing System

This home in Granite City, IL. had issues with water building up against the wall thanks to a concrete patio. The concrete would allow water to build up against the wall rather than flow away from it or drain into the ground. To keep water from building up, a drain was installed along the lenght of the wall that would catch water before it could build up and instead direct it away from the wall.

This drain was connected to a sump pump along with the downspout that drained in the same area. The sump pump would collect the water that built up and pump it through a discharge line away from the home. With this system in place, water would not be able to build up against the wall and leak inside and would instead drain far enough from the home that it wouldn't be able to get inside.

Though problems like this aren't very common, Woods Basement Systems is able to adapt and create new solutions that will protect the home from water damage.

TripleSafeā„¢ Protection in Salem, IL

Homeowner Richard S. from Salem, IL. wisely chose Woods Basement Systems to install a TripleSafe™ sump pump system to protect his home.

The TripleSafe™ system is the best in home protection with its three powerful pumps. The first pump in the TripleSafe™ is a standard sump pump that is often installed on its own during construction of a home. The second pump is an even stronger pump that can kick in to keep the basement dry if conditions get too tough for the first pump alone. A third, battery-powered pump can turn on to help the first two in dangerously high water conditions, but can also turn on on its own if the power goes out and the first two pumps can't operate. These three pumps can work together or independantly to protect against flooded basements.

At this home in Salem, IL. Todd G. from Woods Basement Systems inspected the TripleSafe™ system to ensure it was able to work in peak condition. During his inspection, Todd replaced an old pump as well as the battery for the battery-powered backup pump. He was able to do this during that same visit, making sure that there was no down time where the system was not at full strength.

Richard S.'s home will be safe going forward thanks to a new primary pump and battery making sure that his TripleSafe™ is as effective as ever.
