Randy and Jennifer I. of St. Elmo, IL had two crawlspaces that were causing major issues in their home. Standing water would get into their crawlspaces which caused mold to grow on the walls and the beams above to rot. The floors above the larger crawlspace were sagging because of the weakened beams. Drafts and musty smells came into their home from their crawlspace, as well, so they called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Greg B. inspected the crawlspaces and recommended installing a crawlspace encapsulation system as well as SmartJacks.

SmartJacks were installed along the beams of the larger crawlspace. SmartJacks are adjustable steel columns that are held in place by concrete footings that will support and stabilize floors in place and can also lift floors back to their original position.

SilverGlo Insulation Panels were installed along the walls of the crawlspaces. SilverGlo is made of rigid polystyrene foam insulate the crawlspace and prevents air infiltration. It’s waterproof so it forms a moisture barrier over the walls and directs water to the perimeter drainage system.

CleanSpace was installed along the walls and floors of the crawlspaces. CleanSpace is a durable, thick plastic liner that forms a vapor barrier between the foundation walls and dirt floors which will reduce humidity in the crawlspace and prevent any moisture from getting in.

Along the floors of the crawlspaces, drainage matting was installed. It’s dimpled design provides channels for standing water to disperse to the perimeter drainage system.

SmartPipe was installed along the foundation walls of the basement. It’s a drainage system that has rows of holes covered in filter fabric so it won’t become clogged by mud or debris as it collects water from the walls and floors of the crawlspace and takes it to the sump pumps for removal.

In the larger crawlspace, the TripleSafe was installed to take the water from WaterGuard and pump it out and away from the crawlspace through its discharge lines. It contains three powerful pumps, including a battery back up pump, to ensure that in all weather conditions or power outages, the crawlspace will remain dry.

In the smaller crawlspace, the SmartSump was installed. The SmartSump is designed to fit seamlessly with the CleanSpace barrier and is equipped with a powerful, cast iron pump.

IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines on the exterior of the crawlspaces. IceGuards were designed to prevent water from re-entering the crawlspace if the lines become frozen or clogged by allowing it to escape through slotted openings.

The SaniDry Dehumidifier was installed in the larger crawlspace. It keeps the relative humidity low in the crawlspaces to prevent musty smells and rot.

Randy and Jennifer are glad they can finally use their crawlspace for storage without worries of water damage and that they’ll no longer have drafts or musty smells coming from their crawlspaces.

It contains three powerful pumps, including a battery back up pump, to ensure that even in severe weather conditions or power outages, water will continue to be removed from the basement through the discharge lines. On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. If the discharge lines become frozen, the IceGuard has slotted opening for water to escape so it doesn’t come back into the basement.

Jeff A. of Centralia, IL was worried when he discovered that his crawl space was holding water. Because air rises, having a wet crawl space can cause all kinds of problems. After design specialist Brandon B. assessed the home and determined the best solution, foreman Joshua B. traveled to the home. He started off by installing a SmartPipe system with an exterior discharge line and IceGuard, a SmartSump, and a SaniDry CX. The SmartPipe drainage system has holes on the top and front which helps collect water from the ground and the surface of the crawl space, leaving a drier area. The SmartSump is a sump pump made specifically for crawl spaces. With the help of the exterior discharge line, it moves water out and away from the crawl space. In case of a cold winter, the IceGuard provides a different path for water if the discharge line freezes. The SaniDry CX is a special dehumidifier made for crawl spaces. It collects any water vapor present and drains into the sump pump. Finally foreman Joshua B. installed an EverLast Door. This door is made out of inorganic material that seals the crawl space and keeps out water and any air leakage.

After the installment of all these waterproofing products, Jeff A. no longer has to worry about any water collecting in his home's crawl space. 

Charlie U. of Odin, Illinois noticed that one of the walls in his home was bowing. He did not want the problem to cause further damage or any safety concerns, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

Design specialist Chris T. assessed the situation and formulated the perfect solution. Foreman Jeremy R. traveled to the home to install five wall anchors. Wall anchors are made of steel and extend from the inside wall to the hard packed soil outside. The wall anchors stabilize and secure the wall.

Charlie U. no longer has to worry about the wall bowing, cracking, or causing safety hazards. He now has a safe, secure, and stable wall.

Donald S. of New Baden, Illinois tested his home for high radon levels. When his results came back and were over 4.0 picocuries per liter, he knew something had to be done. He called Woods Basement Systems to come out and help remove the dangerous gas.

Design specialist Phillip H. discussed the problem and solution with the homeowner. Foreman Brett J. headed to the home to install a radon mitigation system. The radon mitigation system is made up of PVC pipes that run underground and around the home. It collects the radon gas and sends it up and away from the home. 

Donald no longer has to worry about breathing in dangerous radon gas every day. He now has a safe home.

Edward B. of Affton, Missouri noticed that his home's concrete driveway and patio were starting to sink and crack. He did not want this issue to become a tripping hazard, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

Design specialist Chris T. assessed the situation and decided that PolyLevel would correct the problem. Foreman William T. traveled to the home to get the job started. The PolyLevel foam is inserted below the concrete through a penny sized hole. The foam then expands and lifts the concrete back to its original position.

Edward B. no longer has to worry about sinking and cracking concrete. He now has a straight and safe driveway and patio.

John B. of Centralia, Illinois discovered that his basement was collecting water even though he already had a working sump pump. He did not want to ignore the problem, so he called Woods Basement Systems for a solution.

Design specialist Jacob K. assessed the situation and decided the best solution was to install a WaterGuard drainage system and a BrightWall paneling system. The Zoeller 1/2 hp pump was also to be replaced. Foreman Mason S. traveled to the home to get the waterproofing products installed.

The WaterGuard drainage system was installed above the footing of the basement. It collects and drains water that is coming up from the ground before it reaches the surface. The BrightWall paneling system was fastened to the walls of the basement. It acts as a vapor barrier and drains any leaks behind it, all while making the basement look cleaner and brighter. Finally, the Zoeller 1/2 hp pump was replaced in the sump pump. It is the primary pump that is used most often.

John B. no longer has to worry about his basement flooding after a heavy rain. He now has a dry and waterproof home.

James S. of Kinmundy, Illinois was experiencing water leakage from cracks in his home's basement. He did not want to have to deal with a wet basement after every substantial rain shower, so he called Woods Basement Systems.

Design specialist Jacob K. assessed the situation and decided that installing a WaterGuard drainage system would solve the problem. Foreman Ryan L. traveled to the home to get the installation started. The WaterGuard drainage system was placed above the footing of the basement and was then covered with concrete. The WaterGuard collects and drains any water rising from the ground to the sump pump. This means that water will not even get a chance to seep up from the flooring.

James S. no longer has to worry about a wet basement due to water coming up through the floor. He now has a dry and waterproof home.

It’s important to make sure that your homes foundation is stable. That’s why Edward G called Woods Basement System when he discovered that his floors were sinking. System Design Specialist Brandon B was able to come up with a solution to the problem.

Foreman Jose L installed a Push Pier underneath Edward’s home. A Push Pier works by being driven into a stable level of soil, the portion of the house that is sinking will rest on the Push Pier making it stable. Overtime the Push Pier will be able to raise the level of the house.  

Roger A. of Mt. Vernon, Illinois discovered that a wall in his basement was bowing and cracking. He did not want more damage or any safety concerns to occur, so he called Woods Basement Systems for assistance.

Design specialist Peter N. assessed the situation and decided the best solution would be to install a few wall anchors. Foreman Jeremy R. traveled to the home to get the job started. These steel wall anchors extend from the inside of the basement wall to the hard backed soil outside. Wall anchors stabilize the walls and prevent further movement.

Roger A. no longer has to worry about further damage due to the bowing wall. He now has a safe and stable basement wall.

Michelle G. of Salem, IL was tired of her dirty, damp crawl space and concerned about mold and moisture, so she contacted Woods Basement Systems for an evaulation. Specialist Jake K. determined that the CleanSpace encapsulation system was the best solution for Michelle's needs. 

Foreman James L. and his crew installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier, a perimeter drainage system, drainage matting underneath to help direct any incoming water into the drainage system, and a SaniDry CX dehumidifier.

Having an escape route in the event of a fire is very important for a home to have. That’s why Dan H called Woods Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Christopher B recommended he install an Egress Window.

An Egress window sits in the ground connected to your basement. The window acts as a way of escape if the house was to ever catch fire.

Robert S was concerned when he noticed that the walls and carpets in his basement were always damp. So, he called Woods Basement Systems. One of our System Design Specialists recommended a SaniDry Basement Air System.

The SaniDry will remove excess moisture from the air. This will take that damp feeling away from the basement.

Concrete that settles unevenly can occur as the result of a number of different causes, some of which being the weight that concrete is responsible for holding up or the weight of the concrete itself.

Kathy I. used to live in a home in Salem, IL with a dirt crawlspace. To protect her home from the damaging water vapors and mold that dirt crawlspaces can create, Kathy I. turned to Wood's Basement Systems to install their vapor barrier CleanSpace™.

The CleanSpace™ barrier protects her home from harmful water vapors as well as being mold-resistant. To keep the crawlspace in the best condition, foreman Ben S. performed an annual maintenance check. In addition to making sure the vapor barrier was in good condition, Ben S. also checked for mold or damage to the crawlspace and replaced the filter in the dehumidifier.

Soil around a home can naturally expand and contract depending on the weather. Though you can't usually see this expansion, it can have a great impact on foundation walls. 

For this home in Kell, IL., expanding soil pressed against the foundation walls enough to cause them to buckle and bow inward. This bowing can not only cause cracks, but if left unfixed, can lead to a collapsed wall. 

Sometimes a contractor recommends a halfwall be built to support the old wall. While this might increase the strength of the wall slightly, the halfwall can be disruptive to the space and might begin to bow inward itself. Instead, Woods Basement Systems uses wall anchors. Wall anchors work by burying an anchor plate out in the undisturbed soil and connecting it to a plate inside with a steel rod. The plates are tightened and pull on each other with the rod. Because the anchor plate is buried in steady soil, it will pull the bowing wall more. This strenghtens the wall and can be used to straighten the wall back out as well. Plus these plates have a low profile, meaning they can be hidden behind finished walls and won't disrupt the space. 

Bowing walls won't threaten the integrity of this home in Kell, IL. now that wall anchors are in place to permanently hold the wall into the proper position. 

This home in Granite City, IL. had issues with water building up against the wall thanks to a concrete patio. The concrete would allow water to build up against the wall rather than flow away from it or drain into the ground. To keep water from building up, a drain was installed along the lenght of the wall that would catch water before it could build up and instead direct it away from the wall.

This drain was connected to a sump pump along with the downspout that drained in the same area. The sump pump would collect the water that built up and pump it through a discharge line away from the home. With this system in place, water would not be able to build up against the wall and leak inside and would instead drain far enough from the home that it wouldn't be able to get inside.

Though problems like this aren't very common, Woods Basement Systems is able to adapt and create new solutions that will protect the home from water damage.
