Installing CleanSpace in a Crawlspace

Installing CleanSpace in a Crawlspace

Before After
Installing CleanSpace in a Crawlspace Installing CleanSpace in a Crawlspace

Many homes, like this one in Carbondale, IL., have dirt crawlspaces. A dirt crawlspace may seem harmless enough, but it can actually damage your home as well as decrease its energy efficiency.

The dirt in a crawlspace can allow animals and bugs to burrow in, as well as water vapor. A dirt crawlspace is also totally uninsulated, allowing conditioned air to escape and allowing humid, hot air in during the summer and frigid, cold air in during the winter. Dirt crawlspaces are full of problems.

But there is a solution to these problems; CleanSpace™. CleanSpace™ is a vapor barrier similar to a pool liner but specifically designed for crawlspaces. This tough, tear-proof liner can block the water vapor rising from the dirt floors or seeping through the walls of the crawlspace as well as block off entries that insects and rodents use to get into the crawlspace. CleanSpace™ is also anti-microbial, meaning mold can't grow on it or get past it. Once a crawlspace is incapsulated with CleanSpace™ it is protected from not only dirt, but insects and rodents as well as water vapor and mold. This opens up an opportunity to insulate the crawlspace as well. Since no animals will be able to rip the insulation, and water vapor and mold spores can't get in to ruin it, the crawlspace is the perfect place to insulate. With insulation below the floor, the entire home will be easier to heat or cool all year round.

A dirt crawlspace is full of problems, but a CleanSpace™ crawlspace can keep your home clean, dry and energy efficient.

This well is big enough to crouch down and enter the crawlspace, and will last for years without rusting rotting, or needing paint. It also comes with an airtight lid to keep moisture and debris out of the crawlspace. This will restore peace of mind for years to come!

Fast and Effective Concrete Lifting and Leveling

The major flaw of concrete is that the ground that it was poured on top of will inevitably shift and sink over time. In the states of Illinois and Missouri sinking concrete is all too common which is why our company has gone to great lengths to develop fast and effective concrete lifting and leveling solutions. PolyLevel is a revolutionary product that is minimally invasive and not only lifts and levels concrete but also stabilizes it.

How PolyLevel works:

  1. The concrete lifting and leveling process begins with a few small holes drilled in the slab.
  2. Then the PolyLevel polymer is injected into the holes and expands to provide an accurate lift.
  3. After only about 15 minutes the polymer is dry and the concrete is ready to be walked and even driven on.

This concrete lifting and leveling technique is faster, less disruptive, and arguably more effective than mud jacking, which is the standard that PolyLevel replaces. We even offer SealantPro concrete sealing, which extends slabs' lifespans by 3 to 5 times overall in just one quick application. This concrete sealing system is resistant to moisture, oil, UV rays, abrasions, and more.

To remove tripping hazards, stabilize concrete, and lift it back to a level height nothing is faster or more effective than PolyLevel concrete leveling. After, our concrete sealing system will preserve your slabs for a lifetime. To schedule a FREE concrete lifting and leveling or concrete sealing estimate, contact us today!

We can Fix:
  • Sunken sidewalks
  • Sagging steps
  • Uneven patios
  • Sinking driveways

SmartJack Installation in Marshall, Illinois

Gene of Marshall, Illinois, experienced sagging floors in his home, so he decided to call Woods Basement Systems. Upon further inspection, systems design specialist, Jacob K., recommended the installation of SmartJacks.

Foreman, James L., installed the products. Smartjacks work to permanently lift and stabilize existing beams in a crawlspace or basement. They are made of galvanized steel, so they do not rust.

Now, Gene B. has a stable foundation.

Waterproofing in Marshall, IL

Michael S. of Marshall, IL had water leaking into his basement. The water would not drain and created concerns. Woods Basement Systems installed products to eliminate all water related concerns in the basement.

Woods installed WaterGuard to help drain water out of the basement. WaterGuard is installed against the wall in the concrete of the floor. The water will flow into the WaterGuard, allowing the piping to lead the water out of the basement.

CleanSpace was installed to the basement walls to help provide control to the water. The CleanSpace will provide a guide for the water to flow into the WaterGuard or sump pump.

A Twin Pack sump pump was installed to evacuate unwanted water. The sump pump will pump the water out through a discharge line that leads the water to the yard. This line can become clogged or frozen at times, in order to prevent the water from receding back into the basement, Woods installed IceGuard. IceGuard is installed on the discharge line next to the house and allows water to escape through it when it is necessary.

Outdated Foundation Repair in Glencoe, MO

Francis & LaVerne, residents of Glencoe, MO, were unsure exactly how old their house was.  When the large horizontal crack on their foundation wall began to leak water, they decided to call in professionals because they were afraid their house was becoming unsafe.  Suggested by a neighbor, they called Woods Basement Systems and set up a free consultation with representative, Randy Pantano.

After a thorough assessment, Randy noticed the couples walls were beginning to bow.  After informing that this often happens due to too much pressure from the foundation soils, he suggested The Foundation Supportworks Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System, which avoids the cost of total foundation replacement.  This long-term system would help straighten then walls back to their original position overtime.  He then recommended the WaterGuard drainage channel to prevent the water from the crack from entering his basement.  The couple was relieved to know that there was a permanent solution to their problem.  They scheduled the project date for the following month.

Foreman Marshall Crawford and his associates started the project on August 19, 2013. The anchors were inserted in the soil outside the foundation.  There, they apply pressure to the foundation walls by the connection of a steel rod.  This procedure helps form them back to their original position.  They then installed an interior drainage channel called the WaterGuard system. The WaterGuard channels any access water that comes through the crack and channels it to the sump pump. By August 23rd, the job was complete.

Not only is Francis & LaVerne’s foundation safer, but their basement is now dry and they increased the value of their home.  They can now use their basement space without fear of their possessions getting water damage.
