Radon Mitigation System Installation

You can expect the radon technician that visits your home to be regularly trained and highly skilled. Each of our contractors is fully licensed for installing radon mitigation systems and complies with industry practices ensuring the highest quality system.

The design of the system we will install for you depends on the unique structure of your home. Depending upon the foundation of your home there are different procedures needed. A basement requires different methods than a crawl space which is different from slab.

Each radon mitigation system design varies depending on the structure of your home. Homes are generally categorized according to their foundation design. The existence of a basement, crawl space or slab all determine the proper mitigation system needed. Here are the general procedures that be part of installing the radon mitigation system:

Common Radon Mitigation Procedures

Radon mitigation system

Radon mitigation systems direct radon safely out of your home through pipes.

  • Forces need to be redirected from the "stack effect"
  • The issue with "stack effect" The stack effect occurs when air drawn from beneath the home rises up to the living space. As air moves upward the downstairs is depressurized allowing more outside air to seep in. Along with this air radon gas also enters your home.
  • Redirecting the Gas Trying to keep the air sealed out of the home will not work as the gas particles easily slip through the smallest holes. So we instead redirect it by drilling a hole into the slab. The newly drilled hole becomes the area of least resistance drawing the radon gas up through it. Depending on the space another hole may need to be drilled. The whole connects to a PVC pipe which is directed upwards. The pipe can run inside or outside of your home.
  • The Gas is vented out The PVC pipe runs up to a connected fan in the attic where it is vented outside safely away from your home.
  • Sealing other Radon Entry Points To make sure that the gas is entering where we want it to we seal other cracks in the home with a urethane caulking compound.
  • Final System Check We double check that the installed system adheres the US EPA Radon Mitigation Standards including proper system labeling and fan installation.
  • The Radon Retest Within 30 days of the system being installed in your home retesting is done to make sure that the system is effectively removing any radon out of your home.
