A St. Louis, MO customer called Woods Basement Systems in a panic because she had recently had work done by another company in her basement, yet there was still water seeping through the cracks.  She was very unsatisfied with the previous work that had been done, and all she had to show was an uneven chain link fence, concrete poured in her yard, and a cut cable line.

It’s situated away from any mud so it won’t become clogged as it collects water coming in from the floors and walls then drains it away to the sump pump.

Gaps or holes like those around wiring, can lights, scuttle entrances and windows and doors in an attic can allow heated or air to escape, which causes warmer or cooler air from the outside to take its place. Woods found any openings in this attic and sealed them used a an expanding spray foam to prevent air leaks.

After air sealing the home, Woods blanketed the floor with blown in cellulose insulation. Cellulose insulation the “green,” insulation choice because it is made from recycled newspapers that would otherwise be sent to a landfill. It’s treated with a nontoxic borate solution that makes it noncombustible as well as resistant to mold and pests. When this insulation is combined with air sealing, it can reduce heating and cooling costs up to 40%.

OJ and Susan F. are thrilled that their home will be much more comfortable as winter fast approaches and their choice to upgrade their attic insulation will end up paying for itself with the money they save on heating and cooling.

CleanSpace is an inorganic vapor barrier that traps out moisture, mold, and mildew. A full crawl space encapsultion works to keep the crawl space at a low relative humidity. It also seals off the crawl space from the dirt, allergens, mold, and critters that can get in when it is open and vented. 

Vent Covers are gasketed covers for the crawl space vents. They keep the weather and air out of the space reducing the relative humidity, keeping the temperature consistent, and keeps pest out. 

CleanSpace is an inorganic anti-microbial vapor barrier that seals the crawl space in. This will reduce allergens in the air, increasing the air quality and smell. It also provides energy savings because dry air is cheaper to heat and cool.

Nate of Herrin, Illinois knew that he needed to fix his crawl space stability since when he first noticed structural damage, he tried to fix the problem himself with cement blocks. Next, a TripleSafe sump pump was put in place to take all of the water collected by the WaterGuard system and pump it out of the house. Jeremy gave the recommendation of installing push piers into the footing of the foundation to lock and lift the foundation back into its original place. 

Several push piers were installed by foreman Miguel O. and his crew. Push piers are made out of durable galvanized steel and are drilled below the foundation to lift it into place. These piers take the pressure off of the home and the soil that supports the house and places the burden onto the piers. Connie thankfully won't have to worry about the safety of her foundation for many years to come!

William, a homeowner from Creal Springs, Illinois, reached out to Woods Basement Systems to waterproof his basement. He currently only had an outdated sump pump to protect his home from water damage.
