Often times, homes built above crawl spaces experience some level of floor sagging. Usually, this is the result of moisture present in the crawl space damaging and rotting floor joists. This was the case in this Portageville, Missouri home, and the owner called the experts at Woods Basement Systems. To support the floors, a Woods team began by installing PowerBrace beams underneath the rotting beams to provide a stable foundation. Affixed to these were several Smart Jack supports, each capable of supporting 60,000 pounds, that were then adjusted to level the floors.
Over the years, this Thayer, Illinois basement's walls had become badly cracked and begun to bow inward slightly. The homeowner was concerned that this damage would continue if left unaddressed, and was afraid of a potential wall collapse. After a call to Woods Basement Systems, a team arrived at the home and got to work installing several GeoLock wall supports. These work by attaching an anchor buried deep in the firm soil away from the foundation to a steel plate on the interior surface of the basement wall, effectively pulling the wall outward and preventing any further damage.
Homeowners in Thayer, IL had cracks forming on the walls of their basement indicating signs of wall failure. After reaching out to Woods Basement Systems, they soon had a solution. Our team installed the PowerBrace System, which are I-beams that are custom fitted to the basement wall. This joist reinforcement method evenly distributes the load and effectively straightens the wall over time. It is also a great non-invasive option since there is no drilling or digging on the property. The homeowners were happy with their supported walls in their basement for years to come!
