Saturated Soil
Outside of the basement, the soil surrounding the home held onto water that added pressure to the basement walls. This pressure is known as hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure creates the walls to crack and bow, allowing water inside.
Finished Basement
Unfortunately, this basement was finished, but not waterproofed. The homeowner noticed water leaks where the walls met the floors. These leaks concerned him enough to get a professional's opinion on a solution.
The Beginning
Team Woods started the installation process by lifting up the carpet off of the floor to make room for waterproofing products.
Drainage System
Team Woods made room for WaterGuard drains to implement a drainage system. A drainage system would prevent water damage from developing in the basement because it stops the water in its tracks.
WaterGuard Drains
Why WaterGuard drains? These drains are installed around the perimeter and footing of the basement walls to collect water leaks and send them to the basement sump pump.
Replacing Sump
Along with the WaterGuard drains, this basement needed to replace its sump pump. The current sump pump was outdated and couldn't handle the demand of water that would leak in.
