Basement walls are often under pressure from the soil outside as it expands and contracts with the weather. This pressure can lead to cracks in the basement and wall, and those cracks can lead to leaks.
To stop these leaks from spreading to the basement floor, and to stop more cracks from forming, homeowner Angela L. turned to Woods Basement Systems to protect her home.
To address the cracking walls, foreman David H. installed wall anchors that would permanently support the wall against the pressures from the soil outside. Next, he sealed the cracks behind FlexiSpan™. FlexiSpan™ is a seal made of polyurethane foam that covers the gap and prevents leaks from seeping out around the cover. The leaks are instead directed into the perimeter drainage system. In this home, that drainage system is WaterGuard™. WaterGuard™ is a specially designed drainage system that catches water from both below the floor and off the wall and directs it to the sump pump system.
The sump pump system, a TripleSafe™ system, pumps the water out of the home with the help of three seperate pumps. The first pump does most of the work while a second pump can kick in to help if the water levels get too high. A third, battery powered backup pump will kick in to help the first two or work on its own if the power goes out. All the water pumped out by this system passes through the IceGuard™ system and to the exterior discharge line where it gets drained away from the home. The IceGuard™ system is designed to allow water to continue to be pumped out of the basement even if the end of the discharge line is blocked or frozen.
The cracks in this home won't be a problem any longer thanks to the great systems in place. The wall anchors will support the walls and help prevent new cracks while FlexiSpan™ will cover the cracks nicely and prevent leaks. Plus, WaterGuard™ and the TripleSafe™ system will keep the basement dry by removing water before it can rise above the floor level.
FlexiSpan™ and Wall Anchor
The wall anchor will support the wall and help prevent new cracks from appearing. The crack that was here is covered with FlexiSpan™, which keeps the water coming in through cracks from leaking into the basement.
WaterGuard™ by the Cracks
The covered cracks are directed down into the WaterGuard™ system, which catches the leaks and directs them to the TripleSafe™ sump pump.
WaterGuard™ Near the Cracks
The FlexiSpan™ covered cracks will direct any water seepage down into the WaterGuard™ system to be drained away from the floors. In this image, an option floor drain is tested to make sure it can drain away water that drips on the floor from places other than the wall or beneath the floor.
TripleSafe™ System
The water caught by WaterGuard™ is directed to the TripleSafe™ sump pump system, which can remove it from the home with the help of its three powerful pumps.
IceGuard™
These IceGuard™ attachments will let water escape from the sump pump system if the other end of the drainage line is blocked or frozen.
