Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Adapting WaterGuard™ to Fit the Project
Many waterproofing systems are only able to be installed in specific circumstances or in specific locations. While no waterproofing system will be the perfect solution 100% of the time, WaterGuard™ is a waterproofing solution that can be adapted to be used in many different circumstances and locations.
In this home in Chesterfield, MO. WaterGuard™ was used around much of the perimeter to protect the basement from outside water leaks. The system was adapted to fit in many areas and situations. WaterGuard™ typically sits against the wall, where it can not only collect water from below the floor, but also from leaks through the wall (if there are any) thanks to its wall extension. In some areas WaterGuard™ could not sit against the wall and so a different type of drainage pipe was needed. A filtered pipe was installed in the trench to connect the WaterGuard™ systems on either side of the gap as well as collecting water that might rise into the trench from below.
This extra pipe was used around exterior doors and a fireplace as well as near walls where WaterGuard™ wouldn't be able to be installed on top of the footing. The pipe would collect water from below the floor and carry it to the sump pump system to be removed from the home.
Even in areas where the WaterGuard™ lines can't be used, Woods Basement Systems is able to install a waterproofing system that connects with WaterGuard™ to offer the best possible protection. While this home offered unique challenges for waterproofing systems, WaterGuard™ was able to be adapted and tied into other systems to protect this basement.
Traditional Installation
WaterGuard™ is traditionally installed along the foundation walls just beneath the floor.
Around Unusual Corners
The WaterGuard™ system is able to be installed along the walls around this corner, making sure there are no gaps in protection.
Behind Pipes
Many basements have water and electrical lines that run beneath the floor. WaterGuard™ is often able to be installed behind or around these pipes to make sure that every area is protected.
Sump Pump Sytem
This TripleSafe™ sump pump will collect the water from the WaterGuard™ system and pump it out of the home with the help of its three powerful pumps.
Against the Wall and Around the Fireplace
WaterGuard™ runs behind the partition wall on the left and turns into a buried drainage line around the fireplace on the right.
Protection Around a Fireplace
Because WaterGuard™ can't be installed behind a fireplace (and the hearth won't leak water) a buried drainage line will prevent water from rising up through the gap between the floor and the brick fireplace.
Back from the Door
WaterGuard™ isn't installed against door frames so a buried waterproofing line is installed here to connect WaterGuard™ lines on either side of the doorways as well as any doorway drains.
Away from the Wall
In this section of the home WaterGuard™ could not be installed on top of the foundation where it usually sits. Instead, a waterproofing trench is dug a bit away from the wall and a drainage system is installed there to collect water from below the floor before it can leak up and damage the walls.
