Support posts were failing in an Alton, IL basement, causing the floor above to sink. To solve this issue, the SmartJack System was installed. These are steel support systems that can permanently stabilize and level the floor joists and girders in the basement. These add strength and stability to the existing columns in the basement. They are unaffected by moisture, as they will not rust, weaken, or be affected by mold. These will lift the floors above back toward their original position, reduce floor “bounce” caused by excessive joist spans, and solve the problem once and for all!

This Granite City, Illinois home had major foundation trouble originating from a bowing foundation wall. As the wall bowed inward the brickwork on the exterior of the home began to sink which resulted in the damage shown in the before picture. Woods Basement Systems installed several foundation repair products ranging from piering to anchors and even installed waterproofing to ensure the basement did not end up flooded.
The crack and settling wedge of this Granite City, Illinois foundation was caused by a waterproofing system (BOX Drain Tile) that let mud and water get into the sump pump and overtime undermined the footing holding up that wedge of concrete. We installed a push pier to close the gap.
Richard B. of Granite City, IL had tried patching the cracks in their foundation walls but new ones kept forming. He was worried that might mean there was a larger underlying issue so he called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended installing Geo-Lock Wall Anchors.
The Geo-Lock Wall Anchors that were installed along the crack walls will permanently stabilize the walls in position by counteracting pressure on the outside of the walls that causes cracking and tilting. Over time, the walls can be straightened by tightening them during dry periods.
