This Granite City, Illinois home's basement walls were in bad shape. Most of them were riddled with large cracks and several were bowing inward. The homeowner was concerned that this damage might cause a collapse if it wasn't addressed, so she called Woods Basement Systems. In order to support and level the walls, a Woods team installed several GeoLock wall supports. These work by connecting heavy anchors buried deep in the firm soil far away from the foundation to steel plates affixed to the interior surface of the walls, effectively pulling them outward over time.

Foundation walls can often come under great pressure from the soil outside as it naturally expands and contracts due to changes in the weather. This expansion will press against the foundation walls and can often cause cracking and inward bowing.
To fix this problem, wall anchors should be installed along the damaged walls. Wall anchors work by burying an anchor plate outside in the compact soil and attaching it to a plate against the wall inside with a steel rod. The wall is pulled into a supported position by the plates. This system will permanently support and strengthen the wall, preventing further bowing and damage. If installed soon enough, wall anchors can even be used to straigten the walls back to their original position.
With wall anchors installed along this damaged wall, the homeowners won't need to worry about further damage occuring and degrading the integrity and value of their home.
A foundation in Granite City, IL was settling, causing cracks to appear and water to leak out of them. To solve these issues, Woods installed products to control the water issue. The WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage System was first installed. These pipes intercept water at the wall and floor joint of the basement and drain it towards the TripleSafe Sump System, which was also installed to pump the water away from the house. This advanced sump pump system will remain working even if there is no power to the house, thanks to the UltraSump battery backup pumping system. Next, a CleanSpace Liner was installed to stop water vapor from permeating the walls and to drain any wall leaks down to WaterGuard. To repair the foundation crack, the PowerBrace system was installed. These beams will permanently stabilize the foundation, straightening the walls back to their original position and keeping them there. This basement will stay dry, clean, and stable for years to come!
