Mount Vernon, Illinois homeowners Seth and Megan F. were troubled with water leaking into their basement. System design specialist Jake K. designed a solution to keep their basement dry.

As part of the waterproofing solution, foreman Juan H. installed IceGuard. IceGuard is installed on the exterior of the home to the discharge lines. Murali K. of Mount Vernon, IL noticed water seeping into the basement and soaking the carpet. After removing some drywall and the skirting board, he found cracks in his foundation. Water was leaking in through the cracks, as well as through the joint between the foundation walls and floors, which had begun to rot the dry wall and woods frames, especially the lower half so they called Woods Basement Systems. Woods installed the WaterGuard drainage system under the cement floors along the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard features wall flanges as well as channel holes so it can collect water to from the foundation walls and floors of the basement and drain it to the sump pump for removal. Other systems sit either along the concrete footing or on the exterior of the foundation and are notorious for getting clogged by mud and plant roots. WaterGuard sits on top of the concrete footing, away from any mud or debris that might clog it.

Woods installed CleanSpace over the cracked, leaky walls. CleanSpace is a thick and durable plastic moisture barrier that prevents water from seeping into the basement through the foundation walls. It directs any moisture down to the perimeter drainage system below for removal. CleanSpace has an additive called UltraFresh that ensures the mold cannot grow on its surface.

Woods recommended installing Geo-Lock Wall Anchors alongside a waterproofing system.

Woods installed the Geo-Lock Wall Anchors along the cracked foundation wall to counteract the external soil pressure that was damaging it. To do this, they connect earth anchors buried in stable soil conditions in the yard to walls plates on the inside of the walls using galvanized steel anchor rods. The system is tightened to permanently stabilize the wall as well as to prevent future damage.

External soil conditions can put tremendous pressure on walls and cause damage like bowing, tilting and cracking. The home that Keith and Michelle S. had just bought in Mount Vernon, IL  had foundation walls with extensive damage. They were bowing to a severe degree and large horizontal and stair step cracks spanned the length of the walls. Keith and Michelle worried that the walls were going to collapse so they called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended installing PowerBraces.

Woods installed the PowerBraces along the damaged walls. They are adjustable steel beams that are custom fit to each basement. They are held snugly in place against the walls by steel brackets attached to the cement floors and the floor joists above. They permanently stabilize the walls in place and prevent future damage. PowerBraces are zinc-coated to prevent them from rusting and they offer the opportunity to improve walls by tightening them during dry conditions.
