This Chesterfield, Missouri basement has leaks that leave the basement floor covered with water. In the before picture we see an entry point for water. WaterGuard was installed in this home which is a unique waterproofing system in that it sits on the footing of the home's foundation rather than in the mud which prevents the WaterGuard from clogging with mud. (please note that the concrete in the after picture had not had time to cure prior to the taking of the picture)
The room addition was losing HVAC air in the crawl space and the room above was cool in the winter and warmer in the summer causing uncomfortable rooms and high utility bills. The CleanSpace® encapsulation system in combination with the SmartDrain® was the perfect solution.

David plans on living in his house for the rest of his life. When rain ruined his carpet, David sought aid for his leaking basement. Woods Basement Systems performed a free home inspection and advised David to purchase a TripleSafe sump pump as well as WaterGuard, two IceGuards, and our incredible ThermalDry floor tiling.
What makes this a great waterproofing system? The WaterGuard collects water from all directions thanks to its patented wall flanges. The TripleSafe receives water from WaterGuard and pumps it out of the house. To address the possibility of freezing of discharge lines, IceGuard is designed to dispel the backing-up water before it floods the pump. Each product plays an instrumental role in keeping water out of David's basement.
Our exemplary ThermalDry floor tiles nearly sold themselves with their beauty and practicality. These simple snap-on tiles are durable, spill-resistant, and they dehumidify air from the ground using circulation pockets.
David can now happily spend his days of retirement in a dry, happy, healthy home; you can too!
This resident of Kirkwood, MO had an unreliable waterproofing system that did not keep the basement dry. Rain would flood the basement, and the sump pump could not keep up with the amount of incoming water. The homeowner wanted to use his unfinished basement for storage, but was unable to do so.
Woods Basement Systems installed WaterGuard and a TripleSafe sump pump in order to keep the resident’s basement dry. Each of these products worked together to effectively keep the basement dry, resulting in a happy customer with more storage space in his home.
Leaky window wells can be a nuisance for any homeowner. A resident of Chesterfield, MO was discovering just how annoying they can be. Every time it rained, water would come in through the window, and there was no waterproofing system to carry the water to the sump pump.
Woods Basement Systems solved the leakage problem by replacing the windows with EverLast windows and installing a WaterGuard system. The resident now enjoys a dry basement that can be used for storage and isn’t just a useless space.
Noble already had a partial WaterGuard system installed in the basement of his Chesterfield, MO home. The system did wonders, but his goal was to keep the whole basement dry, not just part of it. So he called Woods Basement Systems, Inc. back out to finish the perimeter of the basement.
BrightWall was also installed for that fresh, clean look, and also to drain any excess water coming in from the walls to the new WaterGuard installation.
Noble was pleased with the work and now can rest easy knowing his basement is protected by a full WaterGuard system and BrightWall.
This week Irene had her crawlspace flooded with water and needed it the water gone as soon as possible. She also wanted to stop the water flow at its source. The problem was that water was coming in from under the home and getting in through footers and flooding the entire basement. In turn, this water made it damp and humid, which is the perfect environment for mold to colonize. Woods Basement Systems came out to evaluate her concerns and see how they could correct the situation. Irene purchased the SmartPump System, the SmartPipe System, the SaniDry XP System as well as the CleanSpace wall coverings to insure that everything would be fixed the proper way once and for all. With all of these systems working together, there was no way water was going to be a concern for her anymore. The SumpPump would get the water out and the SmartPipe would catch any water coming through the dirt floor.
Now production had to begin, first a hole was dug out and the SmartPump System was placed inside and turned up so that all the water in the basement was pumped out. Originally the water collected all around the basement, not a trench was dug where the SmartPipe would lie in order to catch any water coming through the dirt floor. All exteriors lines for the SmartPump were then connected and lead outside of the home. Now that the two main systems where placed and ready to go, the CleanSpace wall covering was placed over the top floor which made it brighter and waterproof. With the CleanSpace done, the last thing to do was to suck out the humid air with the SaniDry System and prevent mold growth. Irene was very pleased on how her crawlspace turned out and how dry is has become from the original point. If you or someone you know is looking to have their crawlspace inspected give us a call here at Woods Basement Systems located in Collinsville, IL.
Dawn and David noticed that there was water in their crawl space, and there was mold. Their crawl space also infected their basement. The walls of the basement had big dried up water spots that weren’t very appealing. They didn’t report that there was any bad smells going on, and the mold had not affected them. Dawn and David use their basement for extra living space, so they knew the problem needed to be fixed right away.
Woods Basement Systems, Inc. sales rep Kevin went out to inspect the home, and he gave them the solution they needed: SmartPipe and CleanSpace. SmartPipe allowed water from the crawl space to drain out so their crawl space and basement would stay dry, and CleanSpace to prevent mold from growing and the musty smell that comes with it. Juan and his crew went out to the house and installed the products in an efficient amount of time.
Dawn and David were very satisfied with the work done by Juan and his crew, and now they can live comfortably.

Amanda H. of Mount Olive, IL contacted Woods Basement Systems in regards to a TripleSafe Sump Pump System. Upon installation, Amanda learned the first two pumps of TripleSafe will work together as a means to remove more water. She also learned that the second pump will still work if the first pump were to go out, as well as learning that pump three is a battery backup. This means that Amanda's basement will still be protected if there was ever a power outage.

Woods installed the CleanSpace and SmartSump sump pump that would help drain unwanted water away. The Woods team also installed a SaniDry that would regulate the air humidity and temperature.
Samuel L. of Virden, IL was having moisture control issues in his crawlspace before he called Woods Basement Systems. This moisture was threatening Samuel L.'s home with mold and rotting wood.
Woods came in and installed a drainage matting under CleanSpace. This drainage mat would help drain away any water that may get into the crawlspace. The CleanSpace was used to seal off the space to prevent moisture from getting into the space, helping to keep it dry. Vent covers were also installed for additional sealing. These covers create an air tight seal and do not allow water or moisture into the crawlspace. Keeping the crawlspace dry is very important because it eliminates the moisture needed to help mold grow.
A SaniDry was installed to filter moisture out of the air in the crawlspace. A SaniDry is a dehumidifier for the space and will help control the humidity. Controlling the humidity of the crawlspace will reduce energy bills and make the home more comfortable because the air that is moving into the house is more controlled.
A sump pump was installed to provide escape for any unwanted water in the space. Water that may still get into the space will be pumped out through a discharge line that leads the yard. If this line becomes frozen or backed up, IceGuard will prevent the water from receding back into the crawlspace.

A drainage mat was installed under the CleanSpace to drain away any unwanted water that may be standing in the crawlspace. Vent covers were also installed for additional sealing. These covers create an air tight seal and do not allow water or moisture into the crawlspace.
Woods also installed a SaniDry. The SaniDry system filters moisture out of the air and makes the crawlspace less humid. Controlling the humidity in the crawlspace is important to preventing mold. The less moisture, the harder it is for the mold to grow.
A sump pump was installed to provide escape for any unwanted water in the space. Water that may still get into the space will be pumped out through a discharge line that leads to the yard. If this line becomes frozen or backed up, IceGuard will prevent the water from receding back into the crawlspace.

She didn’t want to have to replace her patio so she called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Brenton K. inspected her patio and found the perfect solution to save it.
Woods Basement Systems installed two Helical Piers on the side of the patio that was sinking. Helical Piers are designed to support heavy and lightweight structures, like patios, and prevent them from sinking any further. The corrosion-proof Helical Piers are driven into more stable soil under the structure and then attached to the concrete footing. Helical Piers will prevent any future settlement of the structure and can even lift the structure back to its original position.
Paula P. is thrilled her patio is back to its level position and she no longer has to worry about it sinking.
Kent and Susan T. of Gillespie, IL had a foundation ledge wall that was cracked and bowing inward. Water would come in through the cracks in the ledge wall as well as the wall joints of the other foundation walls and damage the belongings their stored in their basement. They were worried about what might happen if they left the wall any longer and didn’t want to deal with the water anymore so they called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Brenton K. assessed the basement and recommended installing a basement waterproofing system and Geo-Lock Wall Anchors.
Along the cracked ledge wall, Woods installed Geo-Lock Wall Anchors. To counteract external soil pressure on the wall, earth anchors are embedded in more stable soil in the yard and connected to galvanized steel anchor rods which are driven through the wall. The rods are attached to steel wall plates and tightened to permanently stabilize walls in place. They can also straighten the wall over time in most cases.
Woods installed CleanSpace along the foundation walls of the basement. CleanSpace is a durable plastic vapor barrier that prevents moisture from entering the basement through the foundation walls and instead directs it to the drainage system below. It also gives the basement a brighter and cleaner appearance.
Under the CleanSpace, drainage matting was installed on top of the ledge wall. Drainage matting is dimpled so it provides channels underneath it to disperse water coming in through the wall about the ledge down to the vapor barrier on the ledge wall to the drainage system. It keeps any items stored on top of the ledge dry.
WaterGuard was installed along the perimeter of the basement under the concrete floors. WaterGuard is a drainage system that sits away from mud so it won’t become clogged as it collects water from the the foundation walls and wall joints and drains it away to the sump pump.
Woods installed the TripleSafe to collect water from the WaterGuard and pump it out and away from the basement through its discharge lines. The TripleSafe contains a primary, secondary and battery back up pump to keep the basement dry in heavy downpours and power outages. On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. IceGuards prevent water from getting back into the basement if the lines become frozen during winter months.
Kent and Susan T. have peace of mind that their ledge wall is secure and their basement will stay dry even in severe weather.
Cecil F. of Belleville, IL contacted Woods Basement Systems for a free estimate concerning her crawlspace when she found water.
Systems Design Specilast Cody M evaluated the situation and suggested installing drainage matting, CleanSpace, SmartSump, SaniDry CX and IceGuard as a solution.

Foreman Jose L. made his way over to the home and installed all the products that would promise a dry basement. A Twin Pack sump pump was installed along with a exterior discharge line and IceGuard. The sump pump is equipped with a primary pump and a secondary pump, just in case the first goes out. The sump pump and discharge line sends any water out of the house. The IceGuard is perfect for the cold winters because it provides a path for the water to flow out of the house if the discharge pipe is frozen. A WaterGuard was also installed. It is placed above the footing in the basement and is then covered with cement. The WaterGuard collects any rising water from the soil before it gets to the surface. Finally, a CleanSpace wall system was installed. This is a durable plastic liner that is put up on the walls. It prevents a vapor barrier and drains any water leaks.
Paula C. is happy to have a dry basement. She no longer has to worry about any leaks or flooding of her home.
The soil around Kathryn M.'s Ballwin, MO home settled and caused a multitude of problems. Her foundation settled with the soil and the walls of her home began to bow inward due to pressure in the soil. In addition to her compromised foundation, her driveway began to crack as it settled unevenly.

Rick W. from Sappington, MO. had trouble with leaky walls. His basement walls had begun to bow inward, causing the concrete to chip and crack as well. These cracks allowed water to seep into the basement and damage the finished walls inside.
Fixing this problem was a two-part solution. The first thing done to fix this was stabilizing the wall. A wall anchor system was installed in areas that were unsupported or cracking. This system works by connecting an interior plate with an exterior anchor via a steel rod. When the soil outside expands and puts pressure on the foundation wall, that pressure is instead transfered to the anchor. By tightening this system, the wall can also be straightened to fix the bowing and cracking issues.
Once the wall is supported, the problem of water leaks must be addressed. This home had a system to deal with water leaks, but those leaks might still damage the finished walls. Rather than frequently replace damaged or rotting walls, Rick W. had the wood and drywall replaced with BrightWall™ panels. BrightWall™ is not made of organic materials like wood, so it is rot and mold resistant. Its vinyl cover not only offers a pleasant color and finished look to the inside, but also acts as a water barrier, preventing leaks from entering the basement through the wall.
Rick W. won't have to worry anymore now that his walls are supported and the leaks are blocked from entering his finished basement.

Foundation walls are generally made one of two ways. One way is to pour concrete walls similarly to how they pour concrete floors. The other method is to build the walls using stone or cinder blocks.
For homes with block foundation walls, any damage that occurs often occurs along the mortar joints between the blocks, like in this image. In this home in Virden, IL. the pressures from the soil outside expanding due to weather conditions caused the mortar between the blocks to crack and the wall to bow inward. Inward bowing walls can weaken the structure as a whole and can allow water to enter the home and cause further damage. The cracks in this wall were repaired with a joint sealant, but the joint sealant would not support the wall or prevent further bowing. What's worse, the seal would likely break as the wall continued to bow, forcing homeowners to repeat the repairs.
Instead, the homeowners chose to fix the problem right the first time by hiring Woods Basement Systems to install wall anchors to support the bowing wall. Wall anchors work by connecting a plate against the inside of the wall to an anchor buried in stable soil outside with a steel rod. The wall plate is then tightened, creating a pulling force using the rod and anchor. This force will support the wall and, if the anchors are installed in time, will straighten the wall back to its original position. These wall anchors will permanently increase the strength and stability of the foundation wall and will prevent further bowing.
Now the homeowners can patch the cracks knowing that they won't have to repeat the repairs thanks to the wall anchor system supporting their foundation walls.
