Job Stories From Saint Charles County, MO
Complete Protection Equals Complete Dryness

William and Judy of St. Charles, Missouri needed basement waterproofing and foundation repairs. They contacted Woods Basement Systems in June 2013 and met with friendly, informative professionals. After a free estimate and a helpful proposal, William hired Woods to keep the basement dry and fix the basement walls.

Woods installed the WaterGuard system and a TripleSafe sump pump system. The CleanPump stands (included with the TripleSafe) ensure William and Judy’s new sump pumps rest above any mud that could wash into any sump liner, and the ever-vigilant WaterWatch alarm system will sound in the event of mechanical failure or a plumbing leak. Two IceGuards were installed on the exterior discharge lines to prevent flooding due to frozen pipes, and their new LawnScape outlet blends into the lawn while providing a clean exit for water to discharge.

With all the basement and foundation protection both inside and outside the house, William and Judy can now sleep soundly in even the most wicked of storms!

PolyLEVEL Injection Done in Belleville, IL

Chris and Kressa of Belleville, IL owns a nice home with concrete stairs leading to their walk-out basement. They noticed some of their concrete steps were uneven and were cracking in various places. Wanting to level their steps to prevent further cracking and damage, they called Woods Basement Systems of Collinsville, IL to come out and survey their property. Once it was concluded that their concrete steps needed at most 50 lbs. of PolyLEVEL injection, Woods Basement Systems sent their foremen, Dave and Jeff to inject PolyLEVEL.

After penny-sized holes were drilled into selected concrete slabs, both foremen worked together to inject PolyLEVEL under the slabs. As Dave brushed off the concrete and PolyLEVEL dust into a bucket, Jeff worked on refilling the holes they created for the job to get done. Both Dave and Jeff were fast and efficient and even provided Chris with some tips for DIY repair jobs. The entire process took a little over an hour to complete, and Chris and Kressa were extremely satisfied with the results.

O'Fallon, IL Wall Anchor Foundation Repair

Ken owns an older home in downtown O'Fallon, IL and noticed two of his basement walls bowing and cracking. Concerned, he called Woods Basement Systems of Collinsville, IL, and the company sent their Sales Rep, Daniel, to inspect his property and determine diagnosis. After assessing Ken's basement, Dan concluded that Ken needed 13 units of Geo-Lock Wall Anchors to stabilize his basement walls.

Todd and his crew drilled several deep holes throughout Ken's yard and installed the Geo-Lock Anchor System within the ground as well as against the walls of the basement. After all anchors were locked and installed, Todd and his crew filled the holes they created and repaired Ken's yard with new patches of sod. The entire process took a day and a half to complete, and after Todd and his team finished everything and left, Ken was greatly satisfied with the results.

Uneven Driveway

PolyLevel Driveway

This week Jeremiah had his driveway PolyLeveled so that it would be flat once. He wanted all the cracked or uneven parts of his driveway to be fixed. Woods Basement Systems had talked with Jeremiah about his concerns and what actions to take in order to correct the problem.  Woods gave their professional opinion on how to fix the problem and Jeremiah was sold.

You might be wondering, what is PolyLEVEL? Well, PolyLEVEL is the approach to repairing sinking concrete slabs by combing the concept of mud jacking with that of the most advanced technology. Instead of using a mixture of mud and cement to raise your slab, PolyLEVEL utilizes high-density polyurethane specially engineered for all driveway issues.  It is also lighter allowing Woods to raise the slab without putting a high bearing load on it like mud jacking. The PolyLEVEL foam is also made from recycled materials and takes only one day to install.  This material is so strong that a train to drive over the top of it and wouldn’t even be effected by its load. After only five minutes of installation, you can then drive or walk on your new raised driveway.

When Woods comes out to begin, the first thing they do is drill a penny size hole of 5/8 of an inch in the concrete. We then slowly shoot the polyurethane material which foams up and seals the cracks and holes under the surface.  This then makes everything level and smooth. Next, Woods accurately lifts each slab piece to their specified heights. Once it is all level Woods seals up the holes that were drilled and waits five minutes for it to set up and harden. Then it’s ready to go.

Coming to a close, Jeremiah’s driveway is now flat. He is very pleased with how quick it took and how the finished driveway is looking when we walks on it. If you know someone or are interested in having your driveway, sidewalk or patio inspected for PolyLEVEL, give us a call here at Woods Basement Systems, your leading Basement Company and Waterproofing.  For more specifics on PolyLevel read more here.

Foundation Repair in Saint Peters, MO

Matthew of Saint Peters, MO noticed the cracks on his basement walls were getting worse.  After calling Woods Basement Systems, he scheduled an appointment with system design specialist, Nolan Martz.

PolyLevel for Garage Floor in Saint Peters, MO

Saint Peters, MO resident, Mary Beth, noticed her garage floor was slowly sinking over the years.  After doing some research, she decided to call Woods Basement Systems for a free consultation.  On May 26, 2015, system design specialist, Tim Warchol assessed Mary’s issue.

Tim explained to her that the soil underneath her garage wasn’t supporting the weight of the concrete.  She could fix this by replacing the entire garage concrete slab, which would be a bit costly and time consuming.  Instead, Tim suggested that she does the PolyLevel concrete lifting & leveling process.  Mary liked this process because it was faster, more affordable, and best of all, permanent.

Two days later, David Gass and his crew arrived at Mary’s home.  The lightweight foam was injected in small holes in various areas throughout her garage floor.  In just four hours, the garage floor was back to its original position.  Mary is now enjoying her safe & level garage floor and would recommend the PolyLevel process to anyone.

Crawl Space Flooding in St. Charles, MO

Crawl Space Flooding

This week Irene had her crawlspace flooded with water and needed it the water gone as soon as possible.  She also wanted to stop the water flow at its source. The problem was that water was coming in from under the home and getting in through footers and flooding the entire basement.  In turn, this water made it damp and humid, which is the perfect environment for mold to colonize.  Woods Basement Systems came out to evaluate her concerns and see how they could correct the situation. Irene purchased the SmartPump System, the SmartPipe System, the SaniDry XP System as well as the CleanSpace wall coverings to insure that everything would be fixed the proper way once and for all. With all of these systems working together, there was no way water was going to be a concern for her anymore.  The SumpPump would get the water out and the SmartPipe would catch any water coming through the dirt floor.

Now production had to begin, first a hole was dug out and the SmartPump System was placed inside and turned up so that all the water in the basement was pumped out.  Originally the water collected all around the basement, not a trench was dug where the SmartPipe would lie in order to catch any water coming through the dirt floor.  All exteriors lines for the SmartPump were then connected and lead outside of the home. Now that the two main systems where placed and ready to go, the CleanSpace wall covering was placed over the top floor which made it brighter and waterproof. With the CleanSpace done, the last thing to do was to suck out the humid air with the SaniDry System and prevent mold growth.  Irene was very pleased on how her crawlspace turned out and how dry is has become from the original point.  If you or someone you know is looking to have their crawlspace inspected give us a call here at Woods Basement Systems located in Collinsville, IL.

New Basement Drainage Channel in Saint Charles, MO

Saint Charles resident, Martin, had water seeping into his basement through the foundation floors. With hopes to sell his home, he figured he should call in professionals as his home was outdated and built in 1976. On May 18, 2010 a friend referred him to Woods Basement Systems and he set up a free consultation for the next day with representative, Keith Roberts.

After a thorough assessment, Keith and Martin discussed their possible options.  Martin appealed to the WaterGuard drainage system, as it was the most affordable and effective solution. He scheduled for a crew to come out a few days later.

The crew installed the system in one single day on May 22nd.  Martin is now equipped with an interior French drain that will not clog or plant roots.  It’s innovative design allows it to capture wall and floor seepage and direct it to the sump pump before it accumulates on the floor. Wall Anchor in Brentwood, MO

This week Christine B had her fall fixed through Woods Basement Systems by having the Geo-lock Wall Anchor installed to keep her wall from beginning to bow further than it already was. She was concerned about her wall in the past and contacted woods basement systems to do a free inspection of it. Woods Basement Systems sent a specialist to inspect it and thy noticed that the wall had a major horizontal crack than look as though someone had attempted to close it but failed and the crack was becoming larger and larger. The wall also seemed to have a new layer of paint which never fixes and wall from bowing or cracking and the hydrostatic pressure behind the wall is going to keep pushing against it.

When the inspection was complete, Christine had decided to have the Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System installed to close of the crack and any further cracks from forming in the future. The Wall Anchor will help stabilize the wall to prevent and further movement inward and help to straighten it.  Woods Basement System sent a production crew Lead by Forman Jeremy Raby to have the system installed correctly. Once installation was finished, the wall was looking dramatically better than it was to originate and Christine was very satisfied and had peace of mind that her basement wall was not going to come down any time in the future. If you or someone you know has a bowing or tilting wall that needs to be realigned, give us a call her at Woods Basement Systems located in Collinsville, IL.

Unstable Foundation Walls in Foristell, MO

At Stephen’s home in Foristell, his foundation wall crack was leaking water into his basement. After sighting a Woods Basement Systems work truck, he called and set up a free consultation with representative, Robert Peck.

Robert arrived at Stephen’s house on September 28, 2012 for a thorough assessment. The foundation walls were cracking and bowing because they were no longer stable, unfortunately they would get worse if not corrected. As a Foundation Supportworks certified contractor, Robert suggested the innovative Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System. Stephen scheduled a crew for the install the following month.

On October 24th, foreman Matthew Asher and his team installed the system in one work day. Stephen’s foundation soils are no longer affecting his walls because the galvanized earth anchors have stabilized them. He also has the option to tighten the anchors to correct & straighten the walls. Stephen can now enjoy his stable & dry basement for many years to come.

Crawlspace Redone Lerna, IL

Elizabeth D. of Lerna, IL had water leaking into her crawlspace, making it humid and a breeding ground for mold. Woods Basement Systems had the perfect products to seal off the space.

Woods came in and installed a drainage matting under CleanSpace. This drainage matt would help drain away any water that may get into the crawlspace. The CleanSpace was used to seal off the space to prevent moisture from getting into the space, helping to keep it dry.

Woods also installed a SaniDry. The SaniDry system filters moisture out of the air and makes the crawlspace less humid. Controlling the humidity in the crawlspace is important to preventing mold. The less moisture, the harder it is for the mold to grow.

Woods installed a discharge line that was attached to a sump pump. This sump pump would pump the water in the crawlspace through the discharge line. The discharge line leads the water into the yard where it is drained. The line can become frozen or clogged in some situations. In order to prevent the water from backing up into the crawlspace, Woods installed IceGuard. IceGuard provides an escape route for the water so that it does not back up into the crawlspace.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchors and Waterproofing System installed in St. Charles, MO.

Wendy R. had a water problem in the basement of her St. Charles home. Water was leaking in from seams along her foundation walls and wall joints. Her walls were also bowing and cracking, allowing even more water in. The water was staining her walls and threatening her furniture and pool table. She didn’t want an even bigger mess on her hands so she called Woods Basement Systems for a free, no obligation estimate. Design Specialist John S. thoroughly assessed the basement and recommended a waterproofing system.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchors were installed along the bowing, cracked walls. Anchor rods are driven through the walls and connected to earth plates buried in the yard. The anchor rods are attached to steel wall plates inside the walls and tightened to permanently stabilize and even straighten walls,

Under the anchors, Woods installed BrightWall Wall Panelling over the stained foundation walls. BrightWall panels are white plastic panels that are waterproof and stain resistant and give the basement a brighter, cleaner appearance. They form a vapor barrier over foundation walls, guiding any water that might seep in down to the the drainage system around the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard was installed under the concrete floors along the walls. It sits on top of the concrete footing to stay free of mud as it collects water from the floors and walls and drains it away to the sump pump.

The TripleSafe Sump Pump System was installed to evacuate the encroaching water out and away from the basement. The TripleSafe is made up of three pumps, including a battery back up pump, so even in heavy downpours and power outages, it will keep pumping water out through the discharge lines. On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. If the discharge lines become frozen or clogged, water can escape through holes in the IceGuard to keep it from getting back into the basement.

Wendy has peace of mind that her furniture is safe from water damage and her basement will stay dry.

Foundation Walls Stabilized and Basement Waterproofed in Wentzville, MO

Alice C. of Wentzville, MO was the agent in charge of a property that had cracks along the foundation walls. The cracks showed signs of water damage. The basement also had an old, failing sump pump in an open pit. Alice had been in the business long enough to know that these were signs of bigger problems that could drive the value down on a home so she called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Paul W. inspected the basement and outside of the home and recommended installing Geo-Lock Wall Anchors and replacing the old sump pump with a new waterproofing system.

WaterGuard was installed along the perimeter of the basement, under the concrete floors. WaterGuard is a drainage system that sits away from any mud that may clog it and collects water from the walls and floors of the basement to drain away to the sump pump.

The Twin Pack Sump Pump System was installed to replace the old, open faced sump pump and pit. The two powerful pumps of the Twin Pack system sit in a sump liner with a lid so they are still accessible when needed but can be closed so as not to create a hazard like open pits do. The Twin Pack can handle severe weather conditions and even if the primary pump fails, the second pump will continue pumping encroaching out of the basement through the discharge lines. On the exterior of the homes, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. IceGuards slotted openings provide an escape route should the discharge lines become frozen in the winter so the water doesn’t come back into the basement.

Alice C. knows that the home now has more value because the walls are permanently stabilized and the basement is waterproofed.

Concrete Driveway and Walkway Leveled in Lake Saint Louis, MO

Lori T.’s cement driveway and walkway in front of her Lake Saint Louis, MO home was incredibly uneven. The cement pads had of her driveway and walkway had sunk over the years, creating cracks and tripping hazards where the walkway was uneven with the driveway and between the slabs of the driveway. There was also a three inch uneven area between the garage and driveway which made it difficult to pull the car into the garage so she called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended PolyLevel.

Woods injected PolyLevel under the sunken slabs of the driveway and walkways. PolyLevel is an expanding polymer foam that lifts the slabs as it expands to bring them back to level with the garage and other parts of the walkway. It cures in about 15 minutes and can be driven and walked on after it’s cured, which is far less downtime than traditional mudjacking.

Lori T. is glad she can easily park her car in her garage again and no longer has to worry about tripping hazards.

TripleSafe Solves Waterproofing Problems in St. Peters, MO

Karen and Aaron M. of St. Peters, MO thought they had dealt with their basement water problem when they had a plumber install waterproofing system and sump pump. Unfortunately for them, the pump had been installed improperly which caused it to activate nearly constantly and burn out quickly. It was installed in an open pit which caused the basement to be humid and musty as well as being a tripping hazard. The discharge line from the pump on the exterior of the home appeared to be held together by duct tape. Water was still getting into their basement so they called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Jake K. inspected the basement and existing system and recommended replacing the old pump, pit and discharge line with a new system.

Woods replaced the old, burnt out pump in the open pit with the TripleSafe pump system. The TripleSafe contains three pumps in an airtight sealed pit that prevents water from evaporating into the basement air. Each pump sits at different levels in the liner so if the primary pump fails or weather is very severe, the secondary will kick in to keep the basement dry. The third pump is a battery back up pump that can pump up to 11,000 gallons of water on its charge if the power goes out.

On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the new discharge lines. There was nothing in place on the old discharge line to prevent water to come back in to the basement when the line become frozen or clogged. IceGuards are specifically designed for this scenario with slotted openings to let trapped water to escape into the yard and not back into the basement.

Karen and Aaron M. are thrilled that their basement water problem is finally taken care of and they can use their basement without worries.

Waterproofing System Installed in St. Peters, MO

Penny B. of St. Peters, MO had started finishing her basement but a heavy downpour had caused water to seep in and put her plans on hold. She spent hours cleaning and drying out her basement using a store bought dehumidifier. She was worried about what sort of damage would be caused if she finished the basement without doing anything about the water problem so she called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist inspected her basement and recommended a waterproofing system.

Woods installed WaterGuard under the cement floors around the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard is a drainage system that sits on top of the footing of the home to keep it from being clogged by mud as it collects water from the foundation walls and floors and drains it to the sump pump.

The TripleSafe was installed to pump the intruding water out and away from the basement through its discharge lines. The TripleSafe contains a primary, secondary and battery back up pump to keep the basement protected from encroaching water, even in severe weather or power outages.

On the exterior of the home, Woods installed IceGuards on the discharge lines. The IceGuards feature slotted openings that allows water to escape to the yard if the lines become frozen so it won’t get back into the basement.

Woods also installed the SaniDry dehumidifier. The SaniDry is as energy efficient as the small, store bought dehumidifier Penny had but it removes much more moisture from the basement air, up to 109 pints in a day. It keeps the relative humidity low in the basement and make the environment less hospitable for mold growth.

Now Penny doesn’t have to worry about water damage or mold growth as she finishes her basement.

Waterproofing System Installed in Finished Basement in Saint Peters, MO

Justin H. of Saint Peters, MO had finished his basement but it became apparent that there were leaks behind his finished walls. The hidden leaks from the foundation walls had damaged the wood frames and drywall above and left messes that threatened his belongings stored in the basement so Justin called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Mike T.  recommended installing a waterproofing system.

Along the perimeter of the basement, Woods installed the WaterGuard drainage system under the cement floors. WaterGuard is situated on top of the concrete footing so it out of the way of mud that might clog it. It collects water from the foundation walls and floors using its wall flanges and channel holes and then drains it to the sump pump.

The TripleSafe was installed to take the water from the WaterGuard system and pump it out and away from the basement through its discharge lines. The TripleSafe contains three pumps, including a battery back up pump, so even during severe weather and power outages, the basement is protected from floods.

On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. IceGuards are specially designed with slotted openings to let water escape into the yard, rather than getting back into the basement, if the lines become frozen during cold winter months.

Justin H. is relieved that his finished basement is now safe from water and he won’t have to deal with anymore messes.

Partially Finished Basement Waterproofed in Saint Charles, MO

Tom L. of Saint Charles, MO had cracks in his foundation walls. The cracked stretched across the walls and had allowed an alarming about of water to get into his partially finished basement so he called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Adam R. assessed the basement and recommended installing Geo-Lock Wall Anchors as well as a basement waterproofing system.

Woods installed the Geo-Lock Wall Anchors by driving galvanized steel anchor rods through the cracked foundation walls and attaching them to steel earth anchors embedded in stable soil conditions in the yard. Steel wall plates are connected to the anchor rods on the inside of the wall and the components are tightened to permanently stabilize the walls in place and prevent future damage.

The WaterGuard drainage system was installed under the cement floors along the perimeter of the basement. Other drainage systems are installed along the footing of the home or on the exterior of the foundation and are notorious for becoming clogged by mud and debris. WaterGuard is installed on top of the concrete footing to prevent it from clogging as it collects encroaching water from the foundation walls and floors and drains it to the sump pump.

The Twin Pack was installed to accept the water from the WaterGuard and pump it out and away from the basement through its discharge lines. The Twin Pack contains a primary and secondary pump so it can keep the basement dry in light drizzles and heavy downpours.

On the exterior of the home, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. If the discharge lines become frozen during cold winter months, IceGuards have slotted openings to give water an alternative escape route into the yard so it doesn’t come back into the basement.

Tom L. has piece of the mind now because his foundation walls are safe and secure and his partially basement will remain dry.

Billboard Stabilized in Saint Charles, MO

There was a billboard on the side of a highway in Saint Charles, MO that was significantly tilting. The concrete foundation the billboard was built on was settling with the soil around it but wasn’t settling uniformly causing the billboard to lean to a severe degree. It was on the edge of toppling so Matt A. of Pinnacle Contracting called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Paul B. inspected the billboard and its foundation and recommended Helical Piers.

Woods mechanically screwed the Helical Piers into the soil surrounding the billboard’s foundation until they reached the appropriate stable soil or bedrock. The piers are then attached to the billboard’s concrete footing with steel brackets. The billboard’s weight is transferred through the piers to the competent, load-bearing strata through the piers to permanently stabilize it. Helical piers is also uniquely designed to lift homes, or billboards, back to level. Helical piers are suitable for both heavy and light loads and the steel parts of the piers are galvanized to prevent it from rusting.

The billboard is now in a more level position and permanently stabilized so it is no longer hazardous.

Berlekamp Drive in Saint Charles
I would like to stop the rain water that is entering my basement. It comes in through the basement windows during heavy storms. It is a combination of issues. First, the guttering, downspouts are not the greatest. I am having them cleaned and may look to have repairs done or replacement. Next, due to improper drainage(?) and faulty window wells, water seems to get behind the window well (if rain is extreme, "over" one window well), the window well gets overwhelmed and the water rises above the window sil and the water comes into the basement. This has happened with one (of 4 windows) but more recently with 3 of the 4 windows. I'm not familiar with the drainage system outside the house. It was built in 1983 and there is not storm water line running to the street. I'm not sure where the water is supposed to go, if there is perhaps a clog in the drains in the window wells preventing the water from going there OR if this is really more of a gutter/downspout/drainage issue causeing the window wells to be overwhelmed. Is this something that your firm addresses?
